@trumpy81 : So, since last talked I bought a DS716+ and its working perfectly !
But, as this is my first NAS I still have some unsolved questions and after spending the whole weekend on it... here I come.
- 1. User permission:
I'm basically using admin account for now. I created an account for my wife so she can come download her own stuff. But here is the problem I am facing: as a normal user, she does not see Plex folder content. When double click on Plex folder, it shows as empty. Even if Library permissions says Write and Read for her account...
Only way she can access, is by being an admin.... which I would like to avoid. For obvious reasons.
- 2. Library/files management: Plex installation comes with a Library folder and a temp_transcoding folder. Am I supped to hold on those two or can I delete ? tmp_transcoding should probably stay right ? I was thinking f solving problem 1 by putting my wife's TV show and Movies library in her home folder so she only can see them. Is it a common move to separate library like that, when multiple users are involved ? I was worried Plex my not access it again ?
- 3. Saving Library:
Its my first NAS, and my First RAID-1 too. So here is probably a stupid question : If one day I want to reset my NAS, and therefore deleted every content in it to go clean install. How am I supposed to backup the Plex Library ? Can the RAID help ? Because for now, I'm not even sure its actually duplicating. Don't know If I have to activate this somewhere ? And if it is... and I deleted... will it "duplicated" the order and deleted/reset the second disk ?
So how to reset a NAS and keep my Plex Library clean with metadata/covers etc... ?
- 4. Updates :
I understand the Plex version I'm running right now is not pristine but modified to word on my DS716+. Therefore, can I run DSM updates without any trouble ? I'm asked to update to 5644-Update 1. Should I ? Same question goes for Plex. If an update comes, can I update ?
- 5. plexuser:
What is the default created plexuser ? Can i delete it ?
