Greetings,
I have PLEX running of my Synology NAS and I have the "Not available outside your network" message for remote access. I have a Linksys ea4500 router and a Motorola SB6141 purchased modem (not leased through Comcast). I have followed every troubleshooting guide and every post I could find to try and help me solve the issue and I have had no luck. Here's what I've tried:
Tried turning off both the NAS and Router firewall; no joy
Made sure uPnP was active
Confirmed I'm not in a double-NAT situation; the whatismyipaddress.com result matches the IP in the Linksys Troubleshooting > Diagnostics page
Enabled port forwarding on the router manually and adding the port in PLEX (32400)
Tried adding a different port other than 32400 (42000); confirmed PLEX showed the change and modified my router port forwarding rule; no joy
Disabled IPv6 on NAS and router
Setup a DHCP reservation on the router for the NAS even though the IP is configured statically
Signed out/in of the PLEX server
Tried doing a factory reset of the router and setting up all the settings all over again
It hasn't worked for a while and it hasn't impacted me that much up until now. If I'm on my computer at work I just login to my NAS and launch it from there. However, now I have a need to access through plex.tv and it just won't work. Sometimes I can get an indirect connection but performance stinks. What else can I try? Please help! I'm desperate.
