Hello! I need some help figuring out what NAS I should get and what I need to do to make my media play smoothly without any problem.
I already have a server running VMware ESXi with Ubuntu Server distro on Plex and Open Media Vault for storage.
I want to use a NAS for storage instead, because I don't like the performance on Open Media Vault. I am gonna keep the rest of the server as it is with Plex installed on Ubuntu Server.
I am gonna have around 10 users, and play media with a high bitrate (Probably not gonna be more than 3 playing at the same time).
I have looked at the Synology DS1517 and DS1817, but I am not sure if the performance is going to hold up.
Should Plex transcode on the ESXi server or the NAS? If I leave it up to the ESXi server, then I shouldn't worry about the CPU performance of the NAS right?
Maybe a QNAP would be better?
Server:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
RAM: 16GB
