Media play errors after Plex updated

Greetings,

I'm using Plex on both Synology and QNAP servers. Every time I apply an update to either brand of NAS, Plex stops working. If I try to play an album for example, I can see the albums just fine, the images all look right, and the meta data seems fine. But if I try to actually play a song, I get: Browser - Plex moves through each song in the list for about 2 seconds each (the audio play icon on the left moves from song to song), and when it reaches the end of the song list, nothing. Plex is done. Mobile App - error message "Uh oh! Something went wrong playing your media. Please try again." Movies and TV shows won't play either.

This has occurred so far with every update I have applied since I purchased Plex, and I haven't found a good way to prevent or fix this. Anyone else seeing this issue, and if so, any suggestions on correcting it?
