I have Plex running on a Synology DS216j playing m4v files that are encoded to play in iTunes. I get barely any CPU usage when playing in the Apple TV4, usually hovers around 4-6% which is great. But I would like to also play movies to another room that only has an older Apple TV, so i figured i could Airplay from the Plex iOS app. The only problem is when i play anything on the iPhone App the CPU on the Nas ramps up to 100%, which i can only assume is because it is transcoding?
Why would it need to do this, I have direct play on?
