I've been using Plex for a while, years in fact, and thought I was very secure. Yes I had port 32400 open for the world, but I was signed into myPlex in the server (thinking this meant it suddenly was attached to my account, ie. password protected).
I hate to even post such a simple (I thought) question, but how do I put a password on my Plex server?
I run it on my Synology NAS, and as I said signed into it using myPlex account. It works great, and as mentioned, after signing into Plex iOS app outside home, I can access the Plex media just fine...
Apparently it's NOT secure, see screen shot when a nice hacker left me a little message:
I've disabled external access of 32400 port ASAP after seeing this message, and restricted it to my local network only (via firewall settings). I have since gone through the documentation and the only thing I can find remotely like putting a secure "password" on my PMS is using a pin, that is under the "users" section, I clicked the lock icon and made a pin.
Is this the ONLY secure step I can take to secure my PMS and open the port 32400 to the world and know it's secure that only I will be able to access my PMS media?
If you could please tell me or have a link to a document I need to go through to put a password on my server and make it secure while still being accessible externally, it would be much appreciated!!
