After select Manual install in Package Center, I select the installer file and I get Operation Failed. Any suggestion how to overcome this?

I have the DS918+ NAS with 8GB of Ram. My Plex is running on that NAS.
Hardware Acceleration is turned on under Settings->Transcoder.
I try to play (Client is a Chrome under a Winows system with GTX 1060) a movie file with the following data:

But I just see the loading icon (On the default Maximum quality setting).
If I change in the movie playback to "Convert (20Mbps, 1080p HD)", it runs smooth as silk.
Is there somehow a way to watch it in 4K?

When I enable the HW acceleration, HEVC playback is not smooth
I have a DS718+(ram 6G),when I play HEVC video with ASS/SSA subtitle. playback is not smooth. If I disable this HW or disable the subtitle, then play no problem.
The biggest reason why I purchased a plex PASS is because of this HW. This situation is really frustrating for me now.

PMS, DS918+ and Agents
So, here's my situation.
I've been using Plex for two years now. Until last week, my setup was the following: a DS216play to store my media and my Windows 10 Core i7 laptop to run PMS and stream my content to my Sony 4K Android TV or anything else, particularly my iPhone. As you may be aware, the DS216play sucks at running PMS, so I needed my laptop.
These whole two years I have been using PLEX with this setup, I have never had any problems with automatically matching my media using The Movie Database and downloading all relevant metadata. My laptop PMS library is flawless: it has all meta, posters, backgrounds, collection associations etc., and all of this is downloaded almost instantly when new media is added.
That was last week.
But then I decided to upgrade my NAS and now I have a DS918+. I downloaded the x64 PMS package and manually installed it with Package Center. It was up and running in no time with no hassle. I never thought I would transcode 4K content to my iPhone and play it in 1080p over LTE without needing a HTPC to do the heavy lifting. Perfect.
The problem, however, started when I had PMS scan my media folders for all my movies (I have not imported my library from Windows, as I read here it could lead to issues). Using the same configuration for matching purposes and The Movie Database as agent, PMS was simply unable to download ANY metadata. It does not even find the movies it was supposed to, as they have never existed. Interestingly, if I change the agent to Plex Movie, it somehow succeeds, but in a ridiculously slow speed. I mean, each matching takes approximately 2 minutes. I have a 240Mbps connection with 20Mbps upload.
Right now, I have two PMS associated with my Plex Pass account: the one that is still running in my laptop and the one running at the DS918+. Both are behind my router and both are accessible from outside my network, as I properly configured port forwarding rules. The PMS at my laptop continues to be flawless: in a matter of seconds, it is able to download all possible metadata from The Movie Database. The PMS at my NAS cannot.
My limited understanding makes me believe this has something to do with configuration of firewalls or port forwarding or whatever, at my router firmware or at DSM. Does anyone have any insight on that? Are there any ports that need to be open in order to PMS be able to access The Movie Database content? It just does not make sense to me that two PMS running simultaneously have such different behavior in what should be a simple download task.
This is the only reason I have not deactivated my laptop PMS yet, as it has been very frustrating trying to organize my new library and not being able to.

[Fixed] Failed to start service package (DS418, DSM 6.1.5)
This was working ~2 weeks ago, and then died after a couple of days. Here are the steps I've taken to try and solve the issue, but none have been successful:
- 1st attempt: Uninstall & Reinstall Plex.
- 2nd attempt: Uninstall, Delete Plex folder on DSM, Reinstall.
- 3rd attempt: Uninstall, Delete Plex from user and group permissions, Reinstall.
I'm trying to get as close as possible to a fresh install of Plex before trying again, but I'm not having any luck.
Running DS418 (Intel Celeron J3355) with DSM 6.1.5-15254, all other packages up-to-date
Suggestions would be appreciated

No write access to destination
I'm getting a message "No write access to destination" when I try and record to DVR. I never got this to work, the only thing to note is I installed Plex from the native Synology interface, but then uninstalled and reinstalled manually as the 64bit app. The plex user has read/write in the synology interface. What else can I check?
I have a DS216+, HDextend, lastest plex 64bit.

Why does my Synology Plex Server Keep Disappearing Even Though The Service Is Still Running?

I have two PMS, one on my desktop for 4k content and my primary one which houses most of my media on my Synology. It worked fine for almost 5 years and now, my Synology PMS Keeps disappearing from all Plex apps. I checked the service in the web based synology interface "package center" and it is always running when the PMS server disappears from the choices. The only fix is for my to stop and start the service. I have tried updating the firmware on the unit and the PMS package on the Synology 5 or 6 times since the issue. I am convinced it is internal and something to do with my plex on the Synology. I do not know how to read the logs. There is nothing in my crash reports folder on the Synology but the service does not appear to be crashing, just the Synology PMS option disappears.
Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated, I love my damn plex and I am all out of ideas.

Add Folders to Library - files can not be saved.
Hello!
I apologise firstly as my IT skills are basic! Decided to buy a Plex lifetime pass and run off my synology NAS (DS214) which was going ok....
Not sure if this is related but today I manually updated Plex for Synology. I then decided to delete all my TV programs to start this folder again (WHY?!) any how I now can't add the folder with the media that is the same less a few files. It says it can't be saved. Nothing else has changed and I have managed to add music since the update with no issues but it won't let me add the TV program library type. It lets me browse the media, click on the relevant files but then won't let me finish the last bit!
I have ensured permissions are enabled - nothing is read only.
tried adding to my music file which works since the update
tried adding a second film folder to see if this would trick it - failed.
I then tried editing the ready formed film folder to add a TV show I had on Plex previously, it let me add it to the folder but couldn't find it once I scanned the file!
NAS is all up to date and working as well as something of that age can.
Ive tried moving the files to a new folder in my NAS - didn't work.

Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up.
Problem Description
1) Started having issues with playback of files. I was able to narrow it down so far to "Anger Management", however I'm not 100% certain that the problem is isolated to just this series. I am able to regain succesful playback by deleting the subtitles for an episode.
2) Figured that I had switched around Subtitle Agent's a day before so related it to this cause. Therefore removed the "TV Shows" library and readded it.
3) Problem remains.
4) Figured that not too long ago, I had updated DSM to DSM 6.1.6-15266. The version of the running PMS before and after the DSM update is Plex Media Server v1.10.0.4523-648bc61d4 - synology DiskStation i686 - build: linux-synology-i686 synology. As I had not updated PMS in a while, figured I would start by updating that first. Via the "Manual Install" method - updated to: Plex Media Server v1.12.1.4885-1046ba85f - synology DiskStation i686 - build: linux-synology-i686 synology
5) Problem remains.

No Media Will Playback After Update - Error Shaka3016
I just updated to the latest version of Plex for my DS916+ and no music or videos will playback in Internet Explorer. The error says "An Error Occurred trying to play - Shaka3016. Never seen this error before. Tried downgrading and it won't let me. Any help would be appreciated. Everything worked just fine prior to update. Thanks.

I think I know and found the answer to this question but I just want to make sure from the advanced users.
I have manually installed the 64bit version of PMS and I must stop and then reinstall PMS every time I update DSM on the Synology NAS? Thank you for your help.

My 412+ died and I have migrated my disks and data to the 418j, but cant seem to install Plex

Plex Media Server continues to scan libraries and locks up server settings
It seems like the latest update Plex continues to scan my playlists and libraries. When it does that it seems to lock up the settings page and it doesn't let me add more files to be shared. In order for me to add new files I need to stop the service and restart it in DSM. Is there a work around or is this a documented issue with the latest update?

DS916/DS918 and HW transcode quality
I currently have a DS916+ that I've been using HW transcode on for about the last 6-8 months. I moved to this system from a larger box that used software transcoding. While I like the compact size and reduced power usage, the quality difference between QSV and software kind of bugs me. I'm also starting to get some 4k and h.265 content, which the DS916 doesn't always handle that well.
I'm thinking about moving to a DS918+, and I was wondering if anyone could give me their impressions on the differences between the two systems. In particular:
1. Does the HD500 QSV in the DS918 have better h.264 output?
2. Will the Plex HW transcode engine output h.265 to clients that support it? (My clients are recent FireTV and AppleTV boxes with h.265 HW decode.)
3. If so, is the output higher quality than h.264, lower bitrate, or both?

Install Plex on Synology
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to setup my Synology RS814RP+ as a Plex Media Server, I followed the guides but when the installation is finished, I go to http://192.168.20.8:32400 and it ask me to sign in to Plex, then when I'm logged in it go in "Search Media Server" and it displays "Download your media Server, download for windows and download for nas".
I've tried to download from here and reinstall Nas' app but nothing change.
I had download Intel-64-bit (DSM +6.0).
Synology Nas:
Model: RS814RP+
CPU: INTEL Atom D2700
DSM Version: DSM 6.1.5-15254 Update 1

Multiple series mis-identified as 'McMafia' - WTF?
I noticed last night that a whole swathe of TV shows have been mis-identified by Plex and are now sitting under 'McMafia' for some reason. Shows sitting under 'McMafia' include:
- Have I Got News For You
- Springwatch
- Masterchef
- BBC News
What's weird is that all these shows have the correct meta-data files locally, and are all named correctly (e.g.,
"TV\Have I Got News For You\Have I Got News For You - S53E02 - Kirsty Young.mp4"
"TV\Springwatch\Season 2016\Springwatch - S2016E01 - Episode 1.mp4"
They were all imported by Sonarr, and show up correctly under Kodi.
I wondered if it might be local media setting **** something up or a bad scan, so I deleted and recreated my entire library, and let it rescan everything, but it's still the same this morning. I have my Agents set up to have TheTVDB first, not using local metadata.
How on earth can I fix it? It's really annoying.

Plex Media Server
Hi All,
I'm relatively new to Plex and seem to be having a couple of issues setting up the system. I've got a Synology NAS Drive running the Plex Media Server App and hosting the media I wish to be populated in my library. when running a library scan the media server can physically see the files as they are flicking through at the bottom of the screen however after a scan, absolutely none of the movies are populating in the library.
What I've found a little strange is that if I go to Films --> All Folders then all of the individual folders and items are populated just not when I change it back to movies.
