I just got a DS418J. I have installed the Plex key, and downloaded the PlexMediaServer-1.9.4.4325-1bf240a65-arm7.spk file. I chose package center, manual install and browsed to the file, then clicked next. I then get a message this package is not supported on the platform of diskstation or is incompatible with the current DSM version. I have updated my Synology to the newest DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 8 before I started.
How can I run Plex on my NAS ?

Stuck in a sign in loop on a new install DS918+
So:
DS918+
Proc: INTEL Celeron J3455
Mem: 4GB (extra stick still in the mail)
Ver: DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 5
Plex: 1.9.2.4285
- Package Center says installed correctly.
- Plex user created, access to plex and video folders confirmed.
- Active account on Plex and can log in and see account on apps.plex.tv
- attempt to log in via the http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3200 and I get this:

- Click Sign In and I see the start of the normal desktop and then it immediately reverts back to the above image.

Please add "grantPrivilege": "local" to config for control over what users see Plex package
I'd like to be able to specify which users on my Synology see the Plex icon in the Package list when clicking the Main Menu.
I noticed that I was unable to do this from the Control Panel for Plex, but I could do it for other third party packages. I found that the config-file from Plex does not have a grantPrivilege setting. After adding
"grantPrivilege": "local"
to the config, I was able to control who sees the Plex App in Control Panel.
Can you please make this modification, such that I don't have to add
"grantPrivilege": "local"
every time I upgrade the Plex Server package on my Synology?

DSPlay 214, DSM 6.1.3., Server not finding
Hi,
I´ve got two Synology NAS, on my DS215j it is working without problems (but that´s not the one I´d like to use). In my opinion I´ve done the same installing on DSPlay 214 (but Intel Version). Installing works fine, but later the server won´t be found anywhere (can´t access at all) Same certificate, deactivate firewall.
I´m pretty sure I installed it before on the 214play (months ago just for trying, now bought a plex pass). It´s possible there is something left from former installing, which might be blocking?

Plex does not find server
I've got a DS918+ I'm setting up. I open up diskstation:32400/web which is the server itself. But it always says "Looking for servers" It can't see to find itself. On an IOS device, it sees the plex server (though as it's a new install, there is nothing available.) This is on DSM.6.1.3 with plex 1.9.4.4325, so I think they are both the latest.

Why are Extras showing as movies?
I am using this: If you have multiple versions of the movie together, use the "Organized in Subdirectories" method below.
Pretty useless feature if extras stil show up as individual movies.

Synology DS3615xs vs DS3617xs
Synology just released as new NAS, the DS3617xs. I want to let people know that if they were considering the DS3617xs over the DS3615xs that technically speaking there is only one difference in regards to Plex usage and that is the CPU. I own both units and have completely dismantled them for hardware comparison. Everything inside and out are identical with the exception of the CPU and cooler. Of course the motherboard is updated to handle the FCBGA1667 socket, but other than that they are the same. Yes the DS3617xs can run with 48Gb instead of 32Gb of the DS3615xs, but Plex does not need much memory to do any of its work. I think I max'd out at around 2Gb with a full load from Plex. I have 4Gb installed.
The DS3615xs uses a i3-4130 Haswell CPU and the DS3617xs uses a Xeon® Processor D-1527. Now several months ago I decided to upgrade my DS3615xs with a faster CPU. I found the best CPU to be a Xeon E3-1246L v3 Haswell. I could have shelled out another $400 and got the Xeon E3-1286L v3, but he spec were not that much higher and did not warrant the extra cash.

You will need to upgrade the CPU cooler as well. I used the Noctua NH-D9L. Key here is the socket support (FCLGA1150). Now I could have gone with a i7-4765T, but it lack the higher CPU clock speed, 3Ghz vs 3.9Ghz in turbo mode. Base frequency is about 1.5Ghz in difference. Even the DS3617xs' CPU has a slower base frequency of the DS3615xs by 1.2Ghz
There is about $1,000 difference with both units current availability and you can pickup the Xeon E3-1246L v3 for about $370 on Amazon and the Noctua NH-D9L for $55. Unit runs around 40C at full load with this setup.

Why doesn't plex find my server?
I have a brandnew Synology DS918+ and installed Plex. Package center shows Plex well playing, but when I try to login on an internetbrowser (tried Edge and Firefox), plex doesn't find my server. What is going wrong?

Is Synology DSM 6.1-15047 Not Compatible with PLEX???
I was in process to update DSM 6.1-15047 from DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9 and after I hit update there is an error message that Plex is not compatible with the system update and will be disabled after the update. Has anyone else gone through the update? Are you able to manually restart Plex? Was it successful?
I am a bit nervous to apply this update after issues in November with the beta version.

How to Disable transcoding
I have a PMS (synology version) running on my Zyxel NSA-325 v2. My Plex client is running on a Samsung Smart TV UE48H6270. I have not been able to play normal .avi files through the plex app. It looks like the server tries to transcode it and fails (the failure is expected since it is an low powered ARM device).
However, I know that my TV can play it natively, because I can play those files from a streaming server or USB drive. So I do not really want any transcoding to be done.
How can I suppress all transcoding nomatter what the file type? Is it possible to do in Plex? I just want to use plex for the UI and the metadata and ease of use.

Can't Login to local IP for Plex Server....keeps redirecting
Anyone else running in to this? I can login to plex.tv and "Launch" but then its an indirect connection which is slow. Previously I could just hit my internal IP, login with my plex account email and I'm off to the races. Now I'll login but it keeps redirecting me and showing me the "sign in" screen. In the URL I can see after I click login at my local IP, it redirects to the app.plex.tv URL and shows the sign-in screen. I'm using the edge browser, so I'll try another browser shortly....just wondering if anyone else has run in to this.

Need help choosing a NAS

I've had a Drobo for years now and have come to realise the limitations of it with regards to Plex. I need an upgrade. If I can give an idea of what I'm looking for I'd appreciate some suggestions. I've come to the Synology group since I'm not interested in the HDMI outputs or remote controls of the QNAP since I run my plex through Apple TV.
My needs aren't excessive. I'm just one home user and my budget is around £500 (I can go higher if it's worth it). Either a 2 or 4 bay. Preference for 4 bay for expandability.
The hardware encryption in the synology interests me as I'll be using it for general backup as well but I'm not sure if that goes well with plex... The nas will be for plex media first and foremost.

Server on nas not showing as server
Installed Plex Media Server on Synology Nas 2 but server is not showing. On main page it says get plex media server. I have got version 1.9.2.4285 installed.
I have a plex server running on synology nas 1 and when i use that account the synology nas 2 server is working fine. Is there something wrong with my new plex account?

This server is unclaimed and not secure ..
When I attempt to claim my QNAP T251+ as a server, I get a notification that there was a problem signing in to Plex. It also says there is an update available, and I am running the latest (PlexMediaServer_1.9.5.4339-46276db8d_x86_64.qpkg).

Je rencontre un problème pour acceder à PLEX via Plex sur Synology.
J'ai un nom de domaine personnalisé et je n'arrive pas à y accéder via mondomaine.
J'y accède bien via l'IP (locale perso + portperso) et via l'ip (publique + portpublique) mais impossible d'y acceder via mon NAS directement https://mondomainepersonnalisé + portplex
le portplex est bien déclaré sur mon parefeu (Box + NAS)
les paramètres https dans plex sont mis:
- Emplacement du certificat personnalisé : chemin ou se trouve mon certificat sur le pc.
- Clé de cryptage du certificat personnalisé : chemin ou se trouve ma clé de cryptage.
- Domaine du certificat personnalisé : mon domaine personnalisé.
Quelqu'un aurait une idée svp ?

Server not found, fresh install attempted
So this is getting to desperate-level cluelessness.
I've moved my DS1815+ from another house and recently expanded the storage capacity by adding some new drives. The house that it's currently in has another DS unit that is now shutdown, and the newly expanded, package-updated DS1815+ is missing one PMS install, and has constantly fails at every fixing attempt.
- PMS version 1.9.4.4325-1bf240a65 (64 bit) on DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 8.
- Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled fresh deleting the Plex folder.
- Re-ran EZ-Internet/connection wizard to ensure connection is normal.
- Port is enabled in firewall rules.
- Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections: always
Log shows no obvious error code whatsoever, but still there's no server found even after doing the above checklist, multiple times. app.plex.tv shows an orange bar with the message: 'An insecure media server has been found on your network. Reload app insecurely'. Clicking on Reload app insecurely reloads the web app using the local instance, thus going back to the 'regular no server found' error.
The settings does not show 'Server' and PMS instance isn't listed under 'Devices'.
On the previous setup (old house, different network, access via Roku), the server was working normally.

Automatic Updates for Plex Media Server
I was wondering when we might see auto-updating added to Plex media server on Synology NAS's? It's not terribly difficult to manually check if there is a new version since the web app will notify you of one, but automatic updating is even better. I know this is possible as I have other packages that automatically update themselves (whether it's through the Synology package service, or through a repo like git). As always, thanks for all the hard work!
