let me share the following issue: I am working on a WIN10 PC (all recent updates done) and have installed Plex (Plex Pass user) on the Synology DS218+. I was able to create the "Music" library by connecting to the appropriate folder on the NAS, however, when it comes to creating the "Photo" library, I get the message "No objects in this library" although all pictures are there. The access rights on the NAS are correctly set. Did I miss anything important?

I recently found Plex and I am loving it so far, running right now as I type on my Win10
I just bought a 918+ with 4gb ram upgrade and 4 4tb WD red's.
Any advise on how best practices for configuring the 918+ for plex media server usage ? ie ex4 vs brts, raid levels etc?
I was thinking RAID 5 or RAID 10 with BTRFS but after doing some browsing on the Syno forum's there seem's to be confusion over this and which is better ex4 or BRTFS?

I desperately need help .
I will explain briefly,
Router C is acting as gateway. I configured static routes from router A and B to C.
I am able to ping and traceroute from either side of router A and B using my laptop.
But the shield is NOT recognizing the server.
I have added the respective subnets to the "allowed network", "authorized network" in plex config.
Can anyone please tell me any workaround for this? (like portforwarding or something?)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

My Plex player (web 3.23.1) will no longer pause when i click on the video or when I click the pause button. Running server version 1.9.6.4401 on Synology.
I have to actually close the video to stop or pause it.

Where is the SHA1 Checksum for the Synology intel x64 release? When I go to download the latest version from the website, there show checksum button does not show a checksum for the synology release. I can see checksums for Windows Mac etecera but where is the checksum for the synology release.?

I have it installed and configured and can access it on my local network, but I can not access it from the outside.
Also I can not get my server registered, I have tried everything but there is no way.

Hi, I have a fairly powerful setup, but Plex keeps stalling. Movies are stored on a Synology DS1817+ and played back on an AppleTV v4 (not 4k).
When playing back via VLC player this is smooth and works fine. The movies are .mkv ripped from original DVDs so I guess the issue may be that the Plex client can't deal with the mpeg-2?
Any hints on how to deal with this please? I'd like to use Plex as the client because it looks nicer, but I'm not re-ripping my movies......

Hi, been trying all kinds of solutions and are now firmly stuck. Whatever I do I can¨t seem to get Plex to run properly. I¨ve installed if both from the included package and from the Plex Website (Intel 64-bit). The current version is: 1.9.4.4325.
Installation and run goes fine but when I try to access it nothing happens. Through the web by 192.168.1.xxx:32400/web I eventually get a blank page back (no header but also no error message), I have no files in \Crash REports\1.9...., no files in \Logs.
I¨ve tried connecting with IE, Chrome and Plex media player, I¨ve double checked uPNP as well as opened the 32400 port. I¨ve browsed the forum up and down and searched the internet but are still stuck. Have a hunch it¨s something silly that I forgot but by now I need your help.

Does anyone know how could get Plex DVR and live tv on a Synology DS1511+ using PCTV 460e sat tuners.
The advertised supported tuners seem to be only the HDHomerun tuners.

The tag on it goes red and I have to click a retry option it then goes green and remote access back but then every 15 minutes or so it goes off again and shows red x
I've just re-installed Plex on my Synology DS216j as I've been having some issues with some specific media.
After installation, I see the Server Setup screen, which after a minute or so, shows a message stating "A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server. Please visit the forums and provide your logs, as described here."
I've uninstalled again, rebooted the NAS, and started again, and see the error message each time. Not knowing much about this, I've recreated some media libraries and everything appears to be working as expected.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

I recently added the season premiere of Mr Robot season 3. It is currently My TV shows folder/Mr. Robot/Season 03/ S03e01.mkv. For some reason Plex scanner can't seem to pick it up. It's as if Plex didn"t detect anything within that folder.
Searching through the forums I see that last year or rather last season some people ran into the same problem. I tried a few things that seemed to have worked for them but it didn't prove successful.I tried to use the exact Plex naming scheme, to clean the bundles, to purge the tvdb plugin, to remove the files temporarily while I redownloaded the entire metadata for the library... But Plex can't seem to see these files.
Funnily enough if I change them to another name (say, the walking dead) they are then picked up although, of course, incorrectly matched.
If anyone has a way out of this I'd be glad to try it! Thanks in advance.
x264 hardware transcoding with Plex seems to work fine, however x265 doesn't. Anyone knows the current status of x265 transcoding & Plex? Videostation transcodes x265 but the result is pretty terrible in terms of quality..
I have not expanded RAM at the moment, if that might disable x265 transcoding(?)
Hey all. I love my Synology DS418play NAS and I love PLEX, but cannot get them to work together correctly. When I get a video to connect the movie posters and meta data does not pull through.
I CAN run a PLEX server on my iMac pointing to folders on the Synology DS418play (including posters and metadata), but must continue to reconnect to the NAS server and it is a pain. I don't think it is the most effective way to do it as well. Ideally I want to run the PLEX server directly from my Synology DS418play.
Yes I have installed PLEX onto my Synology DS418play. I have also installed the PLEX certificate in the package center on the Synology DS418play.
Anyone else run into this or have any ideas? I suspect it has to do with a setting in the Synology DS418play unit, but I am still new at this.
But I still get an alert "Plex on wifinetwork" on my android phone (where I have never insatlled Plex). How do I get rid of this?

I have a synology DS415+ working on the last version (6.0) with plex server installed.
I have three questions :
1) When a local device use the local ip address of my plex server (http://10.1.15.30:32400/web/index.html# for example), the user is directly connected to the librarys, but without any account. Is it a way to configure an automatic login or to make the login page as default ? (Not a security question, but just to have the correct match between the viewed videos and the user that view thoses videos)
2) I know that the question have been already asked but i didn't find any solutions to that problem :
I have 3 local users that used the plex server and for some videos (a lot), plex transcode those ones. I have a GigaBytes network so i don't need to use the CPU of my Synology. I Have already set the preferences to "Original" for the local network but it didn't change anything.. Currentlu the only way is to see my videos directly in the Folder of my Synology to avoid a 100% CPU usage...
3) I would like to have a look on the bandwith usage of plex while users are watching some videos. But i don't find any informations about who (user or ip address) are currently watching videos and which quantity (CPU or Bandwith) are used. So, if one user need to transcode a moovie, the others users are impacted because of CPU are 100% used..

I just got a DS418J. I have installed the Plex key, and downloaded the PlexMediaServer-1.9.4.4325-1bf240a65-arm7.spk file. I chose package center, manual install and browsed to the file, then clicked next. I then get a message this package is not supported on the platform of diskstation or is incompatible with the current DSM version. I have updated my Synology to the newest DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 8 before I started.
How can I run Plex on my NAS ?
