I just set up Plex on my DS1815+ and the server shows a green lock icon next to it. I can't seem to find exactly what this means, but the server is not available to my other devices. Can someone please advise?

installing trakt plugin for plex on synology
Thought I would give it one more try.
I would like to start using trakt on my plex media server which is installed on mu DS1812+.
I have not yet found a way or found someone who has done this.
Is there a way to install the trakt plugin on a synology?

Plex server not updated on Synology Package Center
I recently purchased a Plex Pass, but I have now run into a few bugs/issues in the server and client software. Before I address these issues I thought it would be good to check what version I am running on my NAS. And to my surprise I noticed that the version on the official Package Center is about 7 versions old (0.9.12.19) compared to the most recent (0.9.15.0).
Is this an issue on my side or is a problem with Synology/Plex not pushing their updates to their customers?
I am running a DS215j NAS with the latest DSM version as of 2015-12-25.

Transcoding woes
Hi all,
this is driving me nuts.
I am running Plex server 0.9.14.6.1620
on a Synology DS213j with DSM 5.2-5644
I also have the Media Server provided with the NAS running.
I have a number of movies on the Nas which I can watch over DLNA on any phone, tv pc in the house. Runs sweet, no jutters or errors what-so-ever.
I got Plex because of its beautiful user interface and cataloging capabilities and its ability to interact with Chromecast.
However I find i cannot get the movies to play on my PC (via Plex) as "The server is not powerfull enough to convert video".
After a lot of messing with the settings on my phone I CAN get the movies to play on that. However, they wont Cast to my TV due to "The server is not powerfull enough to convert video" !!!!
I do not want the server to convert my videos. My videos will stream very nicely and play on all my devices without converting thankyou.
I have read numerous articles on various forums and a lot of people have this issue. Yes, I know the NAS is not powerfull enough to convert/transcode. BUT, I don't need transcoding.
Why can't this feature be turned off?
Media Server (supplied with the NAS) does not transcode. I can browse my movies in a very basic format, select what I want on any device and watch it without issue.
What I want though is the ability to browse my Plex library on my phone, read up on the information contained within and then Cast it to my TV.
Not being able to to turn Transcoding off is forcing me to look elsewhere for a server that may do what i want, but I am not having much luck in finding one, yet.
Any ideas how I can achieve my goals?

problem with folder series
hello, I have a problem with a ds115j synology pkex , when I create a folder with files series not me appear in the player plex ( mac, lg tv, iphone) . If I create the folder like movies instead aperecen the series if the player plex but then not actually download the covers because they are series. in support synology they tell me that it might not stand in series mkv files.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Problems with downloading subtitles
Hi all. I have a synology ds1515+ and the latest verson of plex. Have also configured subtiles download via agents --> movies and series --> my account on open subtitles.org. Primary language is norwegian, secondary language is english. Some movies downloads english subs, but no movies download norwegian language and some movies dont get subtitles at all. When using previous versons of plex i got norwegian subs allways, now the same movies only get english subs if any. Have tried to delete plex, and install it again, also tried a new account just to check but it does not work. Am i missing something here, or is it something wrong?

Synology & Plex Setup
I plan to buy a Synology NAS (DiskStation DS1515+) with 5 Bays and at the beginning with 2 Harddrives: 2x Western Digital 6 TB RED -> 12 TB. I want to add more Harddrives in the future if necessary.
Right now I have a collection of sth. about +500 movies in Full HD with a high bitrate (yet not untouched) and high sound quality (mostly DTS) which needs a space of sth. around 9 TB. All these movies are .mkv-containers.
I do not plan to buy a Computer, so the Plex Media Server shall run on the Synology NAS. (1) is this NAS suitable for running the Plex Media Server? I mean, do the Cover and all the Meta Information show up as soon as I have selected the movie on the client? Or does it lag because of the huge collection of movies?
The client runs on my Apple TV 4 and shows the movies on my Television (4k2k). I had no problems in playing mkv movies in higher bitrate (I tested this with my PC running the Plex Media Server). The Movies were played directly without any transcoding done. But I have two Questions here: (2) I have read often that when it comes to subtitles, the Movie has to be transcoded. Will this be fixed in the future? Does this problem occur with every subtitle added? Usually I don't watch movies with subtitles, but it would be nice to have this feature.
(3) My sound receiver shows up PCM instead of DTS on its little screen when I watch a movie with the Plex App on my Apple TV 4. I heard that PCM is losless, does this mean I don't loose anything in terms of quality of the sound?

Of course I have thought about the future, especially about 4k2k Movies. Thats why I plan to buy a NAS to which I can add more harddisks in the future. I talked about that in the beginning: At first I just want to install 2 harddisks with 6 TB each.
Todays Blurays can contain 25/50 GB. In the future the Blurays (I just read about it, I hope its true.) will be able to contain 66GB/100GB. With 5 Bays I can store up to 5*6 TB = 30 TB. Do you think this is enough space if we assume I get every movie i now have (+500) in 4k2k instead of 2k and still have enough space for more movies?
What I think is: the network, the nas and the television are able to handle 4k2k movies. Its just the Client who determine if the setup works, because transcoding wont be possible on the NAS, so the client must be able to direct play the 4k2k movie. (4) Is my assumption correct, that the NAS can handle the future bitrate of 4k2k-movies?
The apple TV 4 is not able to show 4k2k movies today, but an amazon fire TV is. Because I dont have any 4k2k movies yet, I don't plan to buy an amazon fire TV now or in the near future; (5) But if I get many movies in 4k2k and want to watch them on my Television, will I be able to do this with an amazon fire TV (or another media player which can handle 4k2k?) I mean, without any transcoding, because this wont be possibly done by the NAS?
We talk about the future, I know it's difficult to answer: (6) Do you think its realistic, that there will be 4k2k media players out there (like the apple tv/roku tv/amazon fire tv/ etc.) with which I can play directly the 4k2k movies without letting them transcoded by the NAS?
With all these questions I want basically assure that my setup is possible to handle the future of 4k2k material. Paying <200-300€ for a new media player which can handle 4k2k movies is no problem, but it would make me very angry to see, that the NAS setup can't handle 4k2k movies, because the cpu is too slow or whatever. The NAS and the harddisks are very expensive and cost ~1000-1100€.

PLEX has gobbled up 800GB and I can't get it back - Please Help
Hello, I'm looking for some hepl with my plex problem. I installed plex a few years back and it gobbled up 1.5 TB on my synology diskstation. I somehow freed that space and uninstalled plex and everything was ok for a while.
Today I notice that my space was running low and found that the plex shared folder was using up 800GB!! So I deleted the plex shared folder expecting that it would free up my space. As it turns out it hasn't.
Plex although uninstalled and having no shared folder is still holding 800GB to ransom.
I have tried "empty all recycle bins" and searched for any more plex folders lurking around but can't seem to get my space back.
Can you help me out?

DS413j PMS 0.9.12.19.1537 requires regular restarting
Since the upgrade to 0.9.12.19.1537 both my Samsung Smart TV (Wired) and Nexus 10 (WiFi) have started reporting the PMS as offline when it is up and running. A restart is required before either device can see the server again.
Which logs should I be looking at to see if I can find out why this is happening?

@trumpy81 : So, since last talked I bought a DS716+ and its working perfectly !
But, as this is my first NAS I still have some unsolved questions and after spending the whole weekend on it... here I come.
- 1. User permission:
I'm basically using admin account for now. I created an account for my wife so she can come download her own stuff. But here is the problem I am facing: as a normal user, she does not see Plex folder content. When double click on Plex folder, it shows as empty. Even if Library permissions says Write and Read for her account...
Only way she can access, is by being an admin.... which I would like to avoid. For obvious reasons.
- 2. Library/files management: Plex installation comes with a Library folder and a temp_transcoding folder. Am I supped to hold on those two or can I delete ? tmp_transcoding should probably stay right ? I was thinking f solving problem 1 by putting my wife's TV show and Movies library in her home folder so she only can see them. Is it a common move to separate library like that, when multiple users are involved ? I was worried Plex my not access it again ?
- 3. Saving Library:
Its my first NAS, and my First RAID-1 too. So here is probably a stupid question : If one day I want to reset my NAS, and therefore deleted every content in it to go clean install. How am I supposed to backup the Plex Library ? Can the RAID help ? Because for now, I'm not even sure its actually duplicating. Don't know If I have to activate this somewhere ? And if it is... and I deleted... will it "duplicated" the order and deleted/reset the second disk ?
So how to reset a NAS and keep my Plex Library clean with metadata/covers etc... ?
- 4. Updates :
I understand the Plex version I'm running right now is not pristine but modified to word on my DS716+. Therefore, can I run DSM updates without any trouble ? I'm asked to update to 5644-Update 1. Should I ? Same question goes for Plex. If an update comes, can I update ?
- 5. plexuser:
What is the default created plexuser ? Can i delete it ?

flac-files won't play
Hi there,
Can anybody help? I have some flac files that I would like to use on my PLEX server installed on Synology DS411. However, it doesn't play on the web app in Chrome. The iOS mobile app is even worse: It wouldn't play some other formats that I manage to play on the web app. What should I do? Convert the files to another format? Which one preferably?

DS214play: Newest Version of Plex Server won't install
Unfortunately the packer manager of DSM (5.2-5644 Update 1) provides a rather old version of Plex (0.9.12.3.1173). I tried to manually install newer versions downloaded from plex.tv (last try was 0.9.14.6.1620), but it always ends up with an error message. Anyone else got this problem?

Optimize error with non-latin file names
Good day!
I tried to execute optimization on my Synology DS214play, but it isn't work good: some files returns error on optimization. I tested a lot of files and found error: files with non-latin symbols in their names cannot be optimized! Several files with English names were optimized without problem, but files with Russian file names (example (with path): /volume1/Video/Humour/Уральские пельмени/1/01 - Корпорация морсов второй отжим.mp4) were not optimized with error "File unavailable".
Please, fix this problem. I love Plex and use it every day. Thanks!

Plex Server on Synology and Plex on Xbox One
Dear Plex Community,
I just set up my Synology Diskstation (DS214play) and installed the latest Plex Media Server from the website. Now no other device in my house (Xbox one + PC) can find the server. However, using the Xbox one Media Player I see the server and can play movies no problem.
Any idea what the problem is here? The version on the server is 0.9.14.6, the version on the Plex web-app is 2.5.2 if that helps.

For example going to "Settings -> Server - > Versions" I see a "completed" row with correct "Simpsons" icon, however checking the details (see screenshot) is giving it as "Alien". Then I find "Alien" see all the info about alien, title, metadata, posters, everytihng... and when I play it it is "Simpsons"
This happened to multiple items after I set the whole "Movies" category for optimization...

Remote access not working
I cannot connect to my Plex server from any app or from plex.tv and remote access says it is not working when trying to configure it on the Plex web app of my server, however, I can browse to it and log in from anywhere on the Internet.
After logging in, from anywhere except the local IP of my server, I receive the "You do not have permission to access this server" error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Plex from my server, reset my password and logged out/logged in on every device, including the server with no luck.
