Hey everyone, I bought the DS216+, know I think I have to install the Intel package from the plex download for Synology, right? I ask bekause the CPU is Celeron N3050 1.6GHz and the downloadwindow is cut off, I can only see a bit of the downloadbuttons in the popupwindow.

looks to be a step up from the DS214play I was considering in terms of 4K and better than the DS216play as the DS216+ has hardware transcoding too !
I've had some issues importing the PlexSign.key. I've been running Plex on my Synology 1515+ NAS for months, but realized I should probably add this key. Whenever I try to add the key I get an illegal certificate error.

So this is a question about library sharing.
On long time server running on Windows - All works fine, I can share any library with Friends.
On new server hardware running on the Synology platform. I can share some libraries, but not others. Examples to follow:
I have a Music library with normal music I'm able to share this library.I've also got two other 'music' libraries labeled Podcasts and an Audio Book library. The Podcast and Audiobook library do not show up in the friends sharing popup. I've tried deleting, recreating, renaming checked permissions etc... But I just can't get the two libraries to show up.
Is this a bug, or by design or an oversight with the Synology version of the server.
I've had an issue with Plex for the past month or so, and I thought it was something I had done wrong, and now I'm not so sure as historically I've been using Plex without issues for some time now.
The first warning flag was that one day my Xbox One app started giving me the "No Servers Found: server version 0.9.10.3 or higher version required" error. To be sure, I grabbed the latest Intel build for Synology (I have the DS1512+) from plex.tv and installed that (image attached showing the version of the server installed).
I removed all authed devices, blew away my cookies and localStorage, and started again from scratch. Whether I'm in an incognito window or not, I get the same error every time. Also, side not, not a huge fan of having my password sent around in the clear, even if it is on my local network.
Oddly, even the remote access section of the settings shows the port available locally but not externally. However, canyouseeme.org would prove otherwise: that port is definitely open.
At this point, I'm stuck. It seems like there's an error with the application itself, and since I don't have source code, I can't really debug this further. Help?
Hopefully someone can help me out on this one because i am totally lost. A few years ago my main Plex Media Server was on my NAS. It got to the point where I needed more room and wanted transcoding capabilities so i moved everything to my computer. So i currently have my main server from my computer. The NAS got re-purposed as a VPN and routing box until i gave it as a Christmas gift to my parents. I share my media with them. Recently i have been having issues with consistent internet so i am attempting to set up Plex on the NAS again so they can watch stuff locally without having to stream it over the internet. In the past i could have more than one server so if that is not the case anymore please let me know. Here is the setup i have running for my parents:
NAS: DS411slim
DMS: DSM 5.2-5644 Update 3
Plex (on NAS): 0.9.15.2.1663-7efd046
Router: Netgear Nighthawk R7000
The problem i am receiving is when i start up Plex on the NAS, and sign in, i am presented with a message where the server would normally be that says "A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, then sign the server in.". It also says it's looking for servers above that. I have shutdown my home server to keep it out of the way while i try to set the NAS up. I know i have the ports forwarded correctly. I went through them meticulously. The cable is a cat 5 that i have tested and am getting no resistance through. Jumbo frames are not enabled. No firewall rules and all ports are open on the NAS. I have attempted to open the Preferences.xml and modify it as one post told me i should try, but the only entries i see are "MachineIdentifier", "ProcessedMachineIdentifier", "AnonymousMachineIdentifier", "agentAutoEnabled.com.plexapp.agents.lastfm.Artists.com.plexapp.agents.vevo", "GracenoteUser", and "MetricsEpoch". I have uninstalled and re-installed. I have SSHed into it and deleted all of the plex directories and reinstalled everything. I am presented with the same message when i launch from plex.tv. I have tried chrome, firefox, and IE. I've tried accessing it from different devices. I haven't been this stumped in a long time.
If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate the input.

I followed several tutorial but the result remains the same, no subtitre despite my test on NAS / PC, update the library and establishment of new libraries!
This service is still active on Plex? or only available for premium subscribers?
I have an account on OpenSubtitles.org and I also tested the plugin "Subliminal Movie Subtitles" for Pc and also for Synology NAS ... still nothing.

I am owner of the synology nas 214 play.
Since I have updated the plexserver on the nas and the client of my smart-tv Samsung UE55ES8090 (both of Plexversion 09.15.2.) I have a short Picture fault during transmisson pictures from NAS to Smart-TV.
It is a small distorted strip only a second but it is very disturbing.
It must be in context with the update because there were no disturbances before.
I have tried to change parameters on the client and also on the servert. But nothing helped.
Can you give me an idea?
After moving the plex sharefolder the server refuse to start.
Reproduce the problem:
1. Install PMS
2. Stop PMS
3. Move PMS sharefolder to a other volume
4. Start PMS
Moving the sharefolder back to volume1 fixes the problem.
I did some digging in the "/volumeX/@appstore/Plex media server".
There is a file called "plex_library_path" that is hardwire to "/volume1/.." but changing this file to the correct path doesn't (edit) to make PMS start.

My DS412+ is running DSM6.0b2, but i don't think it is related to the DSM.
The current playlist feature does not work for those of us who host Plex on our NAS devices. What we need is an ability to import from .m3u playlist files on the Plex server. This way we can export a playlist file from a desktop machine that is using iTunes, edit the file directly to change the path of the MP3 files from local drive letter mappings with absolute paths to the relative path on the NAS where the music files are located and then import that playlist into Plex on the NAS.
Can we get this feature on the request list. It shouldn't be hard to add.
Just updated my PLEX (running on DSM 5.2) to 0.9.15.2 and things got funky..
Stuttering, lag and 100% cpu with media that normally had no problem.
Anyone who can point me in any direction to fix this or to go back a version?

Before I begin I have done some search on bypassing vpn on synology for plex and found a couple good ones only to realize it is made for windows.
Anyways, I am able to bypass vpn for all other services on my synology by using different gateway and ddns but unfortunately not plex. Has anyone successfully bypass vpn to use wan ip instead for plex for synology?

Hi I see the new Synology DS716+ has "Intel’s next-generation processor: the Intel Braswell quad-core processor" ... "14nm Braswell quad-core processor" which means "Real-time video transcoding: able to transcode 4K video on the fly.' - it also has 2GB upgradable to 4 GB ram. Int seems that the ability to transcode is not via a transcoding engine but the processer itself can do it. COUld this be the Plex compatible NAS everyone is waiting for?
Hi folks ... I am running the latest official DSM 5.2-5644 Update 3 and the latest Plex Build on the DS214play. Suddenly I´m not able to connect to Plex anymore. Tried to downgrade to the previous version, deleted the plex user, installed the latest version, etc. pp. ... tried many things. Package Center tells me that Plex is running, but when I click on the link nothing is happening. Any ideas???

I know there is a lot of discussion about the transcode process and how this can affect the cpu usage on this model but what is strange to me is that my son has watched the same movie ( file) over the last two months probably a dozen of times and it has never been a problem. Now suddenly it freezes and its unbearable which just I cannot figure out why.
So the setup I have is through Amazon Fire Stick I use the Plex app to connect to my Synology and literally steam what ever content I have.
Suddenly for the same movie I have has intermittent freezes and high cpu usage.
Nothing has changes since we last watched this same movie file a week ago.
I know there are several forums about this and I understand that there are limitations on some files but this is the same move , format and file we watched over and over again.

I had plex running on this unit, removed the package via package manager, deleted the plex shared folder and the user. But now im trying to reinstall - dont ask! :)
The message im getting when trying to install manually via package center is:
"Port undefined configured for this package is either used by another service or reserved for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service, or contact the developer to modify the package configuration" - see attached screenshot.
Any ideas here? Note i have not rebooted since removing the old plex package etc.

Plex isn't matching new files anymore.
Worked fine a few days ago, then out of no where it stopped matching.
I cant even match it manually.
I tried to install the recent Update of Plex on my Synology wit DSM 6 Beta 2. Everytime i get the message "Operation Failed".
The support of Synology said, that this is an Issue of Plex and should be fixed with an update of Plex.
Is someone having a hint?
I have just bought the DS216play and transferred all data onto new WD Red HDD's. The data includes a large number of mp4 video files, varying between SD, 480,720 and 1080p predominantly AAC. When trying to stream/play video files the large majority (of lower resolution files) do not play. Instead I get the message "The server is not powerful enough to convert video'.
Within Plex settings the Player for Local Quality is set to original. My old WD MyCloud continues to play all of the mp4 files without any problem. Is this an issue with the DS216play or with Plex software for this NAS? Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated.

I've been asking around for help with installing PlexPy. I tried to use docker, but I could not get the settings to save properly on a reboot of NAS. I tried to install via PlexPys Linux instructions but on a reboot I can no longer find the /opt/PlexPy directory.
Would like some step by step help.
