Plex used to work fine until I bought an Airport Extreme and made it my Primary Router instead of the Virgin Superhub which I have now set to be in Modem Only Mode. My Airport extreme is configured correctly with DHCP & NAT.
I can access Plex perfectly within my internal LAN the following URL's:
http://10.0.1.6:32400/web/index.html
http://10.0.1.6:32400/web
I cannot access Plex on my internal LAN using just the following URL (port number only)
http://10.0.1:32400
When I do I get the following page of XML:-
"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
MediaContainer size="18" allowCameraUpload="1" allowChannelAccess="1" allowSync="1" ....."
I can access my Synology Diskstation fine remotely or internally by typing in just
http://mydomainname.dyndns.org:4000
which redirects perfectly to:
http://mydomain.dyndns.org:4000/webman/index.cgi and loads up the DSM Manager
I can also access Plex remotely if I type the whole URL
http://mydomainname.dyndns.org:32401/web/index.html or just http://mydomainname.dyndns.org:32401/web
which resolves fine, but I get 401 Unauthorized if I type:
http://mydomainname.dyndns.org:32401/
So this is why, I can only assume, is why the Plex apps cannot find my PMS on my diskstation!!
It's an authentication or DNS name resolution issue i think.
Can anyone please help me here figure out what is going on?
I have the port forwarding on and apparently set correctly.
When logged into Plex via the full URL, Plex server settings tell me for Remote Access: Fully accessible outside your network. The server mapping seems fine and I have tried a mixture of manually setting the Port or not.
It looks like some authentication issue, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. I have added PIN and removed PIN authentication, not Luck. I have removed and re-added the PMS server. No luck. I have tried all combinations of the port forwarding and turned on Dynamic DNS on the Airport Extreme.
I cannot see what is different to what I had by just being connected directly to the Virgin Superhub which forwarded the ports just fine. I have check the ports are open and they are using a port checker.
It is something to do with the configuration of the Airport Extreme but i have no further options.
I know I have a modem router IP address and the Airport Extreme base station router IP which is different, but surely this is OK as Diskstation is perfectly accessible to the outside world.
Any ideas what is causing this issue?
Thanks in advance
