When I make a Library, Plex does not load videos or photos from my Nas. Music is no problem.
It is no problem to selec a directory with Mp4 files or JPEG, but it find no files!

Metadata Issue
My Synology NAS is picking up metadata for a film file very quickly in Video Station but Plex Server is not recognising any metadata and giving me just a random still from the film and the original file title. How do I resolve this please.

Audio not working on Philips TV with Philips soundbar
Hello,
I have Plex installed on a Synology NAS
Everything is working fine, but i get no audio with movies or tv series.
The intro music with for example Criminal Minds is working.
My TV is a Philips (late model) with Android so iam using the android plex app on my TV.
My sound setup is a Phlips soundbar with Woofer.
Where to begin to solve this matter?

Setting up Plex on Synology - Newbie help.
Hi, going in circles.
In short, launching Plex Media Server offers no sign in option, but immediately spawns an external web browser saying to launch the Plex Media Server to sign the server in. @-)
Instructions here https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200288586 for NAS devices state to go to this web page "http://localhost:8888/web", ostensibly FROM your NAS unit.
Synology NAS [DS412+/5.2] has no browser (that I can find), and I am controlling the NAS from a desktop web browser, and links within the NAS OS load on my Desktop OS (OSX).
Clicking on the Plex Media app on Synology unit goes directly to my desktop browser at http://169.254.142.245:32400/web/index.html, with this message, "A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, then sign the server in." I assume it's then looking for a Plex server on my desktop computer, not the NAS.
Intent is to set up a Plex App on Tivo Roamio, BTW.
Hoping to avoid anything like 'jailbreaking' to make this work.

Plex has wrong IP in logs

Devices: Sony BDP-S590, Apple TV, Fire TV, Fire Stick
Somehow Plex is presenting an IP of 10.0.1.15 to my devices (inside my home), but my IP is 10.0.1.35. Due to this, none of my devices can access my plex server, as the .15 address is assigned to a completely unrelated device. I have no idea how that IP is being grabbed and presented, but it is a Phillips Hue Bridge for some of my home lighting. Any ideas on how to get it to grab the correct IP?

Will I see any benefits using 6.0? I just ordered a 1815+, which will be dedicated to Plex. I would hope to get better performance on 6.0.

recently added don't work
I added some movies to my data and all works only the categorie recently added dosen't work. I don't know why. Thera are over 3000 movies in my data- perhaps that is the reason?

I am ripping DVD's for a while and I want to have a multiple select in sub-titles. This is going alright for most of the DVD's but sometimes it sets automatic to one subtitle and the second subtitle will disappear. Many settings in the server are tried out but without succes.

Transcoding no longer working on DS1512+ DSM6b2
The last two plexpass updates have created problems for me regarding streaming transcoded content. I can stream non-transcoded (original bitrate) content over my local network. However, If I try to change the bitrate to a lower setting and force the server to transcode, the stream fails.
I have previously had no trouble streaming any transcoded content of any original source file format ever.
Any help would be appreciated.
I also just tried to downgrade back to the public release and failed. I guess I have to un-install completely to go back ?

Plex Media Server can't create a Premium Music Library
Hello everyone!
I'm running the latest Plex Media Server (0.9.15.3.1674-f46e7e6) on a Synology 412+ NAS.
I'm attempting to create two Premium Plex music libraries. One of them the server is able to create flawlessly. Attempting to create the other results in the media scanner toiling away for hours without importing anything. Attempting to create the failing library as a Basic music library also works fine (the first tracks/albums start appearing in mere seconds, and the process completes soon enough as expected).
It appears as though the contents of my second library are somehow screwing up the Premium Plex music scanner. I just can't figure out what the problem is.
The failing library references but a single main directory. This directory contains a total of 4053 files (mostly mp3 files, some jpg files, and one vbs file). 1709 of those files are distributed across 113 sub directories (only one level deep).
I've seen a few people report similar problems here:

I have not yet seen anyone mention exactly what the problem is or (more importantly) how to solve it.
After deleting all the logs, I enabled both verbose and debug logging and then attempted to create the same (failing) Premium Plex music library. I waited for about 20 minutes, stopped the scanning process, and then attached the log files to this post.
So, how can I fix this problem? I'd be happy to provide remote access to my NAS if that helps.

Everything working except local access via browser to 192.168.0.49:32400
Odd problem: I can do everything including external access to my Plex Media Server via browser and iPhone app.
However, can't get to 192.168.0.49:32400 from any PCs on my LAN.
Plex version: 0.9.15.5.1712-ba5070a
DSM version: 5.2-5644 Update 5
Router: ASUS RT-AC66U running latest firmware
Diskstation has wired connection to router
DSM firewall set to all ports open
Plex server set to manually specify port of 32400
Have a "green" good indicator on remote access
UPNP and NAT turned on in router
Router has WAN port forwarding rule setup for port 32400 pointing to diskstation IP
I can browse to http://192.168.0.49:5000/webman/index.cgi to DSM just fine.
I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here. Any suggestions appreciated.

DS215j / Apple TV 4 and mkv files?
Hi everyone,
after one weekend of research I need your help because I am at a stopping point right now.
I have a new ATV 4 and installed the Plex Media Server on my Macbook for the very first time and really like it. I pretty much only use it for various TV Shows in 720p mkv's. No issues at all, can stream to multiple devices at the same time, really became a fan of this.
I am about to buy a NAS (DS215j) and I know that it cannot transcode video. However, I want to confirm with you guys if this is really necessary. I also already know that an mkv file is just a container, so it purely depends on the format inside and the support of ATV. When I watch a show for example on Plex on my iPad I can see over the info box that it is direct streaming. If I open the Web Interface of Plex while watching something and go to status it also shows me that the files which are currently played on a device are not transcoded. (Actually it shows me nothing in this case but I have tested it with one file which is not supported on ATV and it showed me "trancoding").
So, I was wondering if I will have an issue when putting the Plex Media Server on the DS215j. Based on my experiences so far, it should not be an issue as long as the mkv container has a format (ie 264) which ATV knows, right?
Just want to make sure that before I buy because the ultimate goal is to automate thinks a bit and to not have to switch back on the macbook for every single file.

Travelling with Roku stick - new NAS or a mac mini/nuc server?
Sorry, this has probably been asked loads, so please excuse me.
I have a Synology DS412J, with 4 x 3TB drives which is fabulous for home use through my WD LiveTV hub, however, I also travel a fair bit around Asia and bought a Roku Stick to use in the hotels to watch my tv and films on my NAS remotely and well you know the problem of the constantly uploading film or the unable to transcode message as the NAS is not built to do this.....
So the question is, if I'm going to use the Roku I need to spend money, so do I get a NAS that can transcode and drop the old disks in or do I look to get a small media server (NUC or Mac Mini type) to do the grunt work?
Alternatively, do I save my money and continue to transfer stuff to flash drives and just enjoy Plex around the apartment?

Just Accessing Plex to browse library my Dual core Intel CPU hits 100%.
I am at a loss here and was hoping that someone might be able to help?
I have x3 Plex servers in my environment,
x1 Win 7 current GA Plex server - PlexMediaServer-0.9.15.3.1674-f46e7e6-x86, Dual Intel core 2.6Ghz CPU and 4GB RAM - Works like a dream

This issue is as soon as I browse and connect to either of the Synology Linux devices in Plex I get as far as the 'Home' screen but as soon as I click to any of my Movies or TV defined libraries the Resource Monitor on both, either of the Synology devices immediately hits a red 100% and thats it game over, no browsing, no navigation, no recovery back to the home screen. I cannot even navigate to a movie matadata item. The device then hangs at this state for about 5 mins even if I terminate the browser window.
In contrast I can fully operate, navigate and use the Win 7 Plex server to my hearts content. The movies and TV contents are the same, they are named the same. Whatever I do just works and the server spec as above doesn't even break a sweat, and I'm talking less than 15% per CPU for these very simple tasks.
I have even taken my entire media content and copied it to the DS-214play so that it is being read from the local disks. This has made no difference. My Win7 Plex server reads and play them from a separate Buffalo NAS drive running on the same physical network running at 1GB.
What could be causing this? I had thought about hte spec of the DS-214play but I was actually recommended this device for a Plex server and read many reviews that this was a working solution. What is really bugging me is that the spec of my 3rd device is about as close as the same as my Win 7 configured device running on a laptop.
Would it be a recent change in DSM or a recent compatability issue in Plex running on DSM?
Does anyone have any suggestions or help?

Can Plex be set to Ignoring #recycle?
I try to keep my system clean during library updates but once in a while a file ends up in the #recycle folder and confuses the scanner. Is it possible to ignore this folder?

Bug: PMS fail to start if the sharefolder "Plex" is moved to a other volume
After moving the plex sharefolder the server refuse to start.
Reproduce the problem:
1. Install PMS
2. Stop PMS
3. Move PMS sharefolder to a other volume
4. Start PMS
Moving the sharefolder back to volume1 fixes the problem.
I did some digging in the "/volumeX/@appstore/Plex media server".
There is a file called "plex_library_path" that is hardwire to "/volume1/.." but changing this file to the correct path doesn't (edit) to make PMS start.

My DS412+ is running DSM6.0b2, but i don't think it is related to the DSM.
