Plex on Synology missing Server component in configuration

Recently i came across the problem that my server suddenly became unavailable and i was only able to access shared libraries from Plex web.

Going to the configuration of my Plex i could only see; Web, Users, and Devices. I am unable to access the server part or my library.

This forced me to reinstall my NAS completely (without data loss) to get Plex working again. 

 

But now i am having the same problem again...

 

This is really annoying because a restart of Plex or the NAS doesn't help, a reinstall doesn't help, and i even tried to manually delete some Plex folders. 

 

Does anyone know what to do?

 

Would appreciate it very much.

 

Im running on a Synology 1512+, DSM version 5.2 update 2

and Plex 0.9.12.3.

Plex does not starts automatically after restarting Synology DS214play

Hi guys,

 

I bought a three months ago my Synology DS214play Everything works fine , also Plex (0.9.9.7...) . 

 

My Synology shuts down at Night for Energy Saving but Plex does not run in the Morning when the NAS restarts. Every other app restarts automatically (Video, Audio-Station etc).

 

I dont know what shall i do ? Do you have oder heard any solution.

Youtube streaming from Plex on Synology to Plex client on Popcorn Hour C200

Because the Youtube-app on my Panasonic tv will not be supported anymore at the end of april 2015, and because the Youtube app for Popcorn Hour C200 is very glitchy, I would love to be able to stream Youtube through Plex, installed on my Synology DS213, to a Plex client on my Popcorn Hour C200.

 

Synology tells me this feature is not yet available, and told me to contact Plex to make the suggestion. Could this be made so?

Plex disconnect after few second

Hello

My installation :
Plex media server Version 0.9.15.6 on a HP proliant microserver with dsm 5.2

I'm connect to plex with the web application on my android phone (one plustwo) by the external IP

It's work fine before.

Since few days i can connect to my plex,
i saw the list of my film but just few second after i have an error message

"server unavailable"
We cant access to "yourserver"

I have alrealdy done a rebbot of my phone and my server but 'it's still not working

I also try a telnet connection to the server on the plex port it's work.

I need help

DS216+ transcoding

Does the DS216+ support 720p transcoding on plex server?
I have a ds213+ and a fire TV, but it won't play some files because transcoding isn't supported.
I'm hoping the DS216+ will as it's an intel processor.

Edit the preferences.xml

Hi

How can I edit the preferences.xml to allow other Networks to connect to Plex Server on a Synology NAS?

Accordint to this info:

i should find the preferences.xml here:

Synology - /volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml

But how can I open this file and edit it?
I can ssh to the Syno NAS and then?
If i triy to enter this directory i get a "permission denied" (but i am logged in as admin in ssg).

How do I get Plex Media Server to stop listing deleted content

I'm running Plex Media Server 0.9.16.0 on a Synology server.

I'm having an issue where deleted content does not seem to be removed from the Plex database. This only seems to happen to my Premium Music Library, not to my Movies or TV Shows. I can do Update Libraries / Optimize Databases / Clean Bundles / Empty Trash to my heart's content, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

What could be the problem? Or is there a way to rebuild the database fully without losing my ratings and such?

DS214play - New Music Files Are Not Detected

Hello,

I am using the Plex Media Server (newest software) on my Synology Diskstation DS214play in combination with various clients (Smart TV, iPhone, iPad,...). My content consists of fotos, movies, and music (MP3) which is all metadata-tagged. My music collection is quite extensive (> 45000 songs). Since a few weeks I have the problem that Plex does not recognize new music. After copying MP3s in the corresponding folder on the Diskstation they do not show up in Plex although scanning is set to automatically. Even when I manually refresh and analyse the library the new media is not imported into the database. When I copy other kinds of media like videos on my Diskstation these are files are all correctly recognized by the Plex Media Server... music (MP3) is the only exception. After pushing the "manually refresh" button I can see that Plex analyzes the newly added folders and it shows that the mp3-files are located within a @eaDir subfolder which I did not create. When I look at the folder structure of my Diskstation via Windows Explorer or DSM these subfolders do not appear.

I hope that somebody of you has an idea or can help.

I need to secure my nas website and having problems deciding whether to go HTTPS or SSL (full security) I understand that Plex has linked with Digicert to issue SSL Certificate but I cannot see how you do it ?

I'm playing with the settings of flex media server, and I wondered if the Odroid xu4 can transcode the H265.
I saw some tutorials the show how to modify the 'main.js' file, and I did them but it was unsuccessful.

Have someone here tried to decode a H265 file through with plex?

Dlink ask money for plex

I own a D-link NAS device, and using Plex Server on it for a while.
There is an addon center, where you can install all sort of applications, including plex.

But after new firmwares, now there is a 'more addons link' that goes to d-link web page where you can download plex server. After installation is done, you need to pay some money to get serial number. After you type in serial number, plex server starts.

So, I was wondering, is Dlink selling Plex server? Or I've got it wrong?

Unable to start my Plex server on DS1515+ (Endless looking for server)

Hi,

I have a DS1515+, latest DSM 5.2, and installed Plex 0.9.15.2.1663-7efd406 via the package manager.

I've created an account on your website and now I am stuck.

Everytime I went from NAS Plex shortcut to your web app, it just says "looking for server" and never finds it (see attachment)

I've also tried installing the package from your website but that doesn't work either.

DS214 Play on deck not working

Hy

 

Well I run Plex on my DS214 Play and everything is working pretty great, unless the fact, that the On Deck Feature does not work on either one of my devices (there is PHT, PleXBMC, Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 and Plex/Web).

 

Well I just don't see the ON deck feature on my homescreen of the apps and when I go into the On Deck cathegory on the Devices itself it just gives me an error that it can't connect to the server. All the other things (newly added, playing etc.) is working fine so there obviously is a connection. Of course all the devices are also logged in to the Myplex account.

 

So because of the behaviour I suspect the error is with the server itself, which fails to provide the on deck information. But has anyone experienced the same problem with the DS214 Play (or any Synology NAS) and has found a solution?

 

Here's what I already tried:

-Upgrade Plex to the newest version (0.9.9.0 at the moment but it didn't work with any version so far)

-Reinstall PMS several times

-Whiping everything off and starting again from scratch (including rebuilding my library etc.)

 

So I'm thankfull for any help, because the On Deck feature is a nice feature I'd like to use...

100% CPU During streaming

During streaming of my movies is my NAS CPU on 100 percent.
I have read a lot about it and also everything off what to do with it. As Subtitle and Plex Media Server > Video preview thumbnails turned off. But he remains at 100% CPU.

Hello you guys. First of all, please excuse if my English is not that good. I'm writing from Brazil.

I'm new to Plex and to Synology as well for that matter. I have PMS 0.9.15.6 installed on my Synology DS216play NAS, which is currently running DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5.

After I indexed all my movies and TV Shows, strictly following the rules of the FAQ post, I started to test streaming on all of my clients, both inside and outside my LAN. The clients I tested are: plex.tv, Plex for iOS, Sony Bravia KDL-55W805A, PlayStation 4 and Sony Home Theater BDV-N9100W. Some observations: a) I have a pretty good upload bandwidth for Brazilian standards, capable of handling 1080p streams with minor buffering, no transcoding needed; b) hence, all my clients are set to stream Original quality, whether locally, remotely or online; and c) also, all of them are direct play and direct stream enabled.

I tested plex.tv. It is working flawlessly, both within my LAN and outside it. I tested Plex for iPhone. It is also working seamlessly in both scenarios. The problem starts when I try to play content using my PS4 (app from the PS Store), my TV or my Home Theater (both using the app from the Opera TV Store). All of these attempts are within my LAN. The PS4 and the TV are wired to my router. The Home Theater is wirelessly connected to my home network. In all of these three systems, the error message is that same dreaded information-empty warning: "There was a problem playing this item". Obviously, this is a pain in the ass and kind of defeats the purpose of having PLEX at home.

I have absolutely no idea what is happening. I tried every sort of combination of settings, both in the server and in the clients. I tried toggling everything on and off. I tried mp4s and mkvs. I tried files with subtitles and files without them. Nothing seems to work. The clients can find my server and all of its content, but no matter which file I try to play, the result is always the same. I also tried pushing the content from plex.tv and Plex for iPhone to those devices. Both plex.tv and Plex for iPhone are able to see the PS4, the TV and the Home Theater clients, but whenever I try to push content to them, all I get is a "There was a problem connecting to this player".

Does anyone have any clue of anything I might be missing here?

Error when activating embedded subtitules

Hi,
As soon as I activate subtitles (embedded in the movie file), there is an error and I can't even play again the file. I'm able to play the file again (without subtitles) once it had been deleted and then added back.
My config : Synology NAS DS215j with Plex media server and I use a Xbox one to read the files

I've been facing this issue for weeks and can't find a solution.

Buffering issues behind a Juniper SRX

So I've been having some serious issues with my PMS which is running on my Synology 1513+, but things only started to go downhill after I introduced a Juniper SRX210H to the equation.  Any internal streaming runs just fine, but whenever I try to pull stuff externally (from a friends house with the Samsumg app or even via the web browser, I get some weird network spiking and some debilitating buffering (things play for ~4 seconds, then buffer for 3-4 seconds).  Here's a screenshot of the performance monitor on the nic that has the correct ports forwarded through the SRX for external access:

Prior to making the SRX my edge device, I was using the FiOS Actiontec router.  I was able to externally stream things with all the same PMS settings with no issues at all. The CPU would sit right around ~90% and my upload/"sent" data would be a steady 1.5-3MB/s.  Now, with the SRX in place, I only get what you see here...maybe an avg of ~400kb/s, no to mention the crazy spiking.

 

I've also attached a snippet of the PMS log file.  It is PACKED with these repetitive entries during the times when I'm trying to stream.

 

In terms of the SRX configuration - I've disabled ALL of the ALGs as well as as many of UTM proceses that I can find.  It really seems like there is some sort of stateful packet inspection going on here, but I'm just not sure what else it could be.  The last thing to note is that I can do speed tests on another computer behind the SRX and I'll get 75/75 speeds all day long (FiOS).

 

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Getting PMS Music to finish indexing appropriately

I'm running Plex 0.9.15.6 (with a PlexPass) on a DS1513+ (DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5) and while it's worked beautifully for Movies, it seems to be struggling to get my music together.

PMS has been running continuously for almost a week (spinning circle in upper right) and still hasn't finished indexing music files (it finished movies/tv in a single day). I don't know why it keeps going and/or how to stop it. Can anyone provide insight there?

On another front, a lot of music metadata is missing (even for non-obscure bands), I saw the recommendation to use FileBot to help organize files appropriately for video. Is there a similar tool I can use to better structure the music files?
