I re-installed, now a lot of my music, Plex is not picking up my album art that I manually put there for a number of CDs. This should be controlled at the server, what options do I need to tell Plex to use the locally stored metadata and album art instead of something else? Thanks,

I try to play such a CD, burned to ALAC, converted to AAC 512k. If I convert it to 256k like Itunes it will play. So I look in the server log and when I click on a 512k track I see this:

DEBUG - Close To Home - audio.bitrate limitation applies: 512 > 384

I want to change this, this could be done in a custom profile?

Anyone have a workaround - I am getting really frustrated. Tried all I can come up wit and still no luck. My server isnt visible on my Smart TV or on plex.tv , and I can't even run the app from my NAS through 192.168.xx.xx:32400/web
could it be my ISP blocking that port on my router?

Hello, I've just bought a Synology DS216PLAY, When I go to download Plex makes me not Install, saying That OPEN the file for every need INDICATE the program with which you wish to open it. E 'can run a search on the web automatically Select a program manually, and I still file a Require (.sbk).
Finally I wanted to know if plex Supports Synology DS216PLAY.

I've just installed the latest Plex app from this site to my Synology.
But all my movies that has 1080p can't be played and Plex on my sony gives "This server is not powerful enough to convert video"
But I've turned off any transcoding.

So today my home experienced an Internet outage when a construction crew hit a line.  Wouldn't of cared so much,  except I learned that PLEX is dependent on Internet access to run.

I have a Synology that run PLEX and all my content is local.

Is there a way to operate PLEX when the Internet fails?  Or should I begin looking at other alternatives?

I always used PMS on my Windows computer, but I don't like having to keep my computer on 24/7, so I want to move all my media to my NAS.

When adding content to my Plex I often change the poster and background and sometimes the title.

Is there a way to move all my media from my Windows pc to my NAS without having to manually change the default posters and backgrounds again?
And keeping the "unwatched badges" would be very welcome

5.1 channel audio signals did not work after latest PMS upgrade. Only AC3 and AAC stereo sources will play.

I have tried AC3, DTS, DTS-HS. No sound. Tried several option with direct stream on/off, direct play in auto, forced and disables in several permutations with no luck. AC3 5.1 was working fine before the upgrade. DTS would previously be transcoded to DD+

I've also tried to switch on / off passthrough on the plex client (Android) for AC3, DTS and DD+ with no luck.

Nothing works except Stereo sources.

Any ideas guys?

Hi all. I have a synology ds1515+ and the latest verson of plex. Have also configured subtiles download via agents --> movies and series --> my account on open subtitles.org. Primary language is norwegian, secondary language is english. Some movies downloads english subs, but no movies download norwegian language and some movies dont get subtitles at all. When using previous versons of plex i got norwegian subs allways, now the same movies only get english subs if any. Have tried to delete plex, and install it again, also tried a new account just to check but it does not work. Am i missing something here, or is it something wrong?

(Ps: streaming to apple tv4)

From synology i can get the plex server, but its old. My iphone app complaints about it then.

So i went to this site and took the intel latest version .pkg file and installed it manually. Here is where it goes bad, it just says "Operation Failed" nothing more! I've read several topics about uninstalling the plex from synology itself, then reinstalling, no luck. Tried to remove all traces found on another thread (after uninstalled from synology itself) still same error message.

The only method i found to install it, is to open up the .pkg file and place the folders in the right directory's and playing with it a bit. Then it is finally installed but there is no init script or correct method to upgrade in the future, and this type of install is not easy.

The only thing similar i could find is this post: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/181461/cant-manually-install-plex-on-ds215j which i can find in my logs too.

Then i downloaded firefox and used only firefox for downloading and operating my synology, but even this didn't work. Rebooting the nas as instructed after cleaning also didn't do anything, same error.

Only thing i do believe helped a little is installing the default plex server, then install manually the newer version. Only then did i manage to get output in a log file.

Any help would be appreciated, since i do believe i tried most tips/tricks i could find. (and this should be the simplest one to install right?) :-)

Have been able to point some folders OK (ie Movies), but when I try to add TV Shows, there is no listing in the folder structure.

I'm experiencing issues getting tv-shows and movies playing on my Apple TV3., directly from my NAS
They all start playing on my iPhone (and even on the Plex web app from my DSM), but whenever I'm trying to stream them to my Apple TV3, it just keeps loading and eventually, I get a playback error.

Could this have something to do with the codec?

So got myself a new Synology which can do some transcoding but also have an old QNAP nas which can't.

When trying to add movie folders from within the Synology, I can only add local shares from the synology. I have an old QNAP nas on which I was hoping to add some shares to the Synology server.

Any idea if this is possible

none of the clients I used show any content when I view based on "By Genre"; All other views work fine (All Artists. By Album, By Folder, etc).

Anybody a clue?

I created a database by choosing:
- Add Library,
- select Music
- add a folder
- create a basic music library
- in Advance only the box "Use embedded tags" is checked (Scanner: Plex Music Scanner; Agent: Personal Media Artist)
- click "Add Library"

My Plex Media Server doesn't synch all my folders in my "TV Shows" section. The formats are mixed between the container .mp4 and the files .m4v. Both formats are supported by the PMS.
E.g.: I have all seasons of Married...with Children, but just 3 episodes of 3 different seasons are synchronized. All do have the same format.
I moved the location of the file and tried to synchronize it newly, but with the same result.
I also converted the files again, but the same result.
Can anyone help?

Strange thing..under "Albums" my Mozart CDs are in order... they are named like this

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Complete Works, Volume X (1-9): Name of Volume (disc X: Title)

So its like Volume 1: Name of Volume (disc 01, 02, 03, etc: Title).

Under "Albums" these arrange fine. Under ARTISTS for music..its all over the place....skipping ...some numbers showing at the bottom...can anyone please help?

I am running PMS 0.9.9.14 on my DS413. Everything runs smooth and as expected. My videos are all done with handbrake so that no transcoding is needed for playback on my client devices.
The update of the iOS client forced me to update the PMS. But the newer versions of PMS seem to have some problems in analysing the videos right. Here is the situation:
Videos that have been added under PMS 0.9.9.14 are still playing after the update. But videos i add after the update are not working. I get an "Server is not powerful enough.." error message. But this behavior does only occurs at videos that have artwork included (added with subler).
Videos without artwork are playing fine when added to newer versions of PMS (last tested version 0.9.12.13).
Its definitely NO problem of the video or how it is encoded. A video that is running perfectly fine under 0.9.9.14 ist still running smoothly after updating to 0.9.12.13. But when i copy the file and add it again (under PMS 0.9.12.13) i get the error.
I think the problem is how the new versions of PMS analyse the media files. At the movie-detail view - where i usually select my audio language of the video - it shows: "AUDIO: none" instead of my audio tracks. Again, this is only the case with files that contain artwork and have been added under PMS 0.9.12.13.
If i add the very same file under PMS 0.9.9.13 and do the update to 0.9.12.13 everything works like charm. I can choose my language and play the video.

I was hoping that updates would fix the problem, but PMS 0.9.9.14 is the last version that does analyse video files with embedded artwork properly.

Is there still hope that this problem will be fixed someday?

I've been using one of my MacBook Pro (late 2011) to run a Plex server for about 1.5 years right now. I want to preserve it and I'm considering a Synology.

As many, I've heard about the release of the new DS716+
I'm new to NAS but I'm very interested.

I've scanned the Forum in search of a complete post about it but couldn't find clear informations.

Here is how I got to use my MacBook :

• open port for Plex
• open port for transmission (starting torrent from work)
• open port for Remote Desktop
• local network live trans-coding 720p up to 1080p. Not expecting 4k for now even with the right TV.
• lot of synchronisation on iPads for weekends and holidays
• 1 up to 2 live local streams. (2 being quite rare).
• running 24/7

What can, and what cannot be achieve with the DS716+
I've been considering MacMini too, but was hoping to save space with only one NAS. If it can be done.

As the title states some of my music suddenly stopped playing after upgrading my Plex Media Server to the latest version (0.9.11.4.739-a4e710f )

I can't figure out why these files in particular do not play. They are all m4a files, although some other m4a files play without a problem. The files are AAC encoded and played well before the update. (the ones that play are also AAC, both the ones that play and those that don't seem to be encoded exactly the same way according to MediaInfo...)

This happens regardless of where the music is being played to. I get the same results (some play, some don't) on a Mac desktop, on my Surface using the Plex app, or the browser, AND on a windows phone using the app...

I"m running Synology DS413 with DSM 5.1-5021 which is the latest.

When I try to play on of the songs that won't cooperate on my Desktop Mac, I get a few seconds of silence followed by the appearance of a thin black box at the bottom of the screen with the message "Finished Processing(name of the artist, song, song number, on name of the server)

I don't understand why there needs to be any processing of those files....

On the Surface I get, after a several seconds, a message that says "MF_MEDIA_ENGINE_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED : HRESULT - 0xC00D001A"

On the phone I get nothing at all

I tried to reinstall an older version of the server sofware, but because of my lack of subscription I could only get back as far as 0.9.11.1.678, with no change.

All things video seem to function as always, picture and sound show up and everything is good
