Alexa Not Working on DS1515+

I cannot get Alexa to push content to any client (web, Fire TV, Android) from my Synology DS1515+ running DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9. Upon making a request, Alexa says "Enjoy watching [movie name]..." but then nothing happens at all, including no indication of the request in the Status section of the server's web interface. These clients are able to manually pull content from the Synology without issue. When Alexa's target server is changed to my Windows installation on the same account, Alexa works fine. Both installations have Remote Access enabled (the issue persists even if the Synology is the only server with Remote Access enabled). This issue was present on PMS 1.3.4 and 1.4.1. I have attached the logs as well. Has anyone encountered this, or have any ideas for resolving it?

I recently applied the Plex Server v1.3.4 update to my Synology DS716+II.
After the update was applied I was still able to stream content to mobile devices, via web browser and to one of the Smart TVs we have upstairs.
However, it quickly came to light that that our (new - making it doubly frustrating) Samsung SmartTV (UE55KU6400) can no longer stream any content from the Plex server.
All library contents are displayed on the TV & it is possible to navigate through all movies, TV, pictures & music.... BUT when a media item is selected we are presented with a red box which reads "Sorry, there was a problem playing this item" (this is true for all videos, pictures & music).

The Plex server has been manually added by IP (192.168.100.5) and insecure connections have been permitted.
In an effort to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled Plex completely, re-installed the previous version to no avail.
(The problem very much still persists)
As the problem seems to exist using v 1.3.3 or v 1.3.4, I have gone ahead & re-installed the latest version.

I suspect this is related to some authentication issue because if I sign-in to my Plex Account on the Plex Server & sign in to my Plex Account on the TV App? All content suddenly plays without issue <== Remember: Library content is always displayed, but only plays when signed in to external Plex Account.

Perhaps I'm making life difficult for myself here, but I have no interest in signing all of my devices in (via the internet) to the external Plex account service:
I would like Plex to run only on my local network, without requiring internet access.

The reason for this is that internet connections can (and DO drop).... I don't want my devices to be dependant on an active internet connection in order to stream contents on my LAN (this sounds reasonable to me, but it does seem to be adding a layer of complexity).

Note: To eliminate encryption issues as a contributing factor I have permitted insecure connections & ensured all Plex clients are configured for this (this seems to allow everything to work apart from the new TV's Plex App).

I'm more than happy to upload my Plex logs
I've downloaded them to my local machine, ready for upload to this forum, but there do appear to be a huge number of files & I'd like to only share whats absolutely necessary (I don't want to muddy the waters with too much info, or accidentally share potentially sensitive data).

As mentioned above: The new Samsung TV was no small cost to us & Plex was one of the driving factors in it's purchase.
We very seldom watch broadcast television (relying quite heavily on a functional Plex server) so I'm sure you can appreciate how this might be more than a little frustrating.
Any input and/or assistance anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Plex Media Server updates are not available in Synology's Package Center?

I have a Synology DS214play with the latest software update (version DSM 5.1-5022) installed. On this NAS, I have installed the Plex Media Server (version 0.9.9.12.504-3e7f93c) using Synology's Package Center (I did not upload any .spk file to the Package Center manually). I recently noticed that several new versions of the PMS have been released, but when I click the "Update" button in the Package Center, it keeps telling me that "All packages are up-to-date." despite that there are several new releases.

 

Has Plex stopped publishing PMS packages to Synology's Package Center?

If no, when will the new packages of the Media Server be published to Synology's Package Center so that I can update my NAS?

If yes, I noticed that you can install PMS manually ( https://forums.plex.tv/topic/132719-how-to-install-plex-on-a-ds214play/?hl=%2Bpackage+%2Bcenter ). Which is the suggested way to migrate (preferably without need of reindexing all files)?

No connection from Synology NAS to the Plex server

After installing the Plex app on my Synology NAS system DS 216+ II, Plex worked for some days on my iMac (Sierra) without any problem. Some times later it did´nt work longer - my NAS got no connection to the Plex server again. The settings for ports and scripts should be incorrect and I have contact the support. So here I am. Sorry, but what can I do now?

How to get Plex back working on Synology DSM 6.1 beta?

Since the DSM beta 6.1 is available it is not possible to start Plex again. Any workaround or planned update of Plex to fix this planned in the near future?

Global Audio/Subtitle App Language Settings problem with multi users?

Hello,

I have 3 users Owner (Plex Pass), Living Room and Bedroom (Multi users created)
I select in Global Audio/Subtitle App Language Settings French language.

In my library, i select French language too. After that, i have created Living Room User and Bedroom User.

When i add movies and launch update library. I select movie to verify language. In my user Owner (Plexpass) Audio/Subtitle is French but in my Living Room User and Bedroom User English is activate by default not French :/

Who fix this please?

  • Version of Plex: 1.3.3.3148
  • Version of DSM: 6.0.2-8451 Update 7
  • NAS Model number. EG: DS1815+

Adding to library crashes computer

Whenever I add any video media to the Plex Library it crashes my Linux computer.

It isn't the first library I have had though. I don't know how to get dumps.

I have recently moved to a DS916+ and I was hoping to be able to run Plex on it. I started Plex yesterday and it seemed to be working, but some time today I started to get errors when I am trying to use it.

If i go in from the web interface, I get "There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard" and if i go in from the Samsung app, I get an error that there is no information to display.

I looked in the logs and the only thing that looks suspect to me is that i get a "WARN - SLOW QUERY: It took 270.000000 ms to retrieve 50 items."

Plex doesn't start after reboot

Hoi Guys,

I got very often that Plex doesn't start after a reboot on my Synology. I have got my shutdown scheduled on 1:00 and start at 6:00.

I have got Version 1.3.3.3148 on this moment. Why doesn't want it to run after reboot? All my other apps do only Plex not which is very annoying.

I saw a older post on 2014 but the problem still persist ano 2017.

Hello:

First let me apologize if this is not the correct place to post this question but I could see no other(s) that matched so here goes.

I am migrating all my Plex libraries from 2 small NAS's one a Western Digital and the other a Seagate to one larger NAS which is a Synology DS-916+ with the DX513 expansion unit. Currently I have playlists for movies located on the Western Digital and music located on the Seagate. My question - Is there anyway to migrate the existing playlists from either or both original source locations to the new NAS? I have a large number of playlists and would prefer not having to recreate them all over again. I do not use iTunes so that idea is not available to me.

Any ideas would be welcome and thank you in advance.

Synology Plex Server not showing server link to setup new server

I have a Synology DS1514+. Plex Server was previously setup on this and I had to restore it to factory defaults. I am now trying to start over. I setup the NAS, Setup the Drive, and installed plex server, and configured router. The server installs and runs fine. I click on the local link only and login using my plex account. It does not find my server nor does it offer the server tab under settings. I am unable to setup the server.

The NAS and the computer I am connecting to plex with are on the same network. I have install/uninstalled (removing the server app, files, and plex user account) a number of times without luck.

I have attached the log file.

I have a DS1515+ that I have installed / un-installed / reinstalled the Plex package on. First the one from the DSM interface, then the downloaded current version, un-installed, installed the Plex Pass version (PlexMediaServer-1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80-x86), and no matter what I do I cannot get the server tab to show up.

Firewall is disabled, ethernet is syncing up at 1000Mbps (no custom MTU), DSM is up to date ( DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9 ), and I have poked around, and everything seems OK.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I am new to Plex but looking forwards to getting it installed. I have a New NAS and have just started to use Plex. I did a Manuel installation that all went well but when I opened the PMS (http://30.120.10.35:32400) I keep seeing "Looking for Server” in the top left hand corner. I am also not seeing the server tab under the setting.

Trouble shooting step taken:
Stopped PMS instilled, deleted all of the folder and the user.
Cleared all cookies from the browser
Tried another browser
Looked trough logs – I do see some Errors most “XML" & "no such index"

Devices:
NAS - Synology DS916+
Version – DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9
_PMS _
Version – 1.3.4.3285-b46e0ea

All device on the same subnet.

Cant access plex web interface anymore

so today I was having issues with plex not finding in shows in folders so stoped the app and restarted it.

it wouldn't re start so uninstalled in and reinstalled it. once reinstalling it it won't open the web interface

please help

Hi Dev Team!

This is probably true for ALL PMS versions currently available on ANY platform.
I personally experienced this issue at least on Synology and on SHIELD.

The following date entries in the database can get the value 2022-02-22 instead of the real date:
added_at table metadata_items
updated_at table media_parts
updated_at table media_items

This has some nasty side effects, like no new items are shown in the Home screen, as the ones with 2022 in the date are blocking everything else as they are the newest...
A quick internal check in the code if the date to set is > the current date before the commit would prevent that once and for all.
Think about it.

For us normal users experiencing this:
Grab a SQLite DB Browser and fix that manually or with SQL commands and you are set again. (until the next occurrence)

Hello

After installing Plex on my Synology I found out it created a new user "plex". This user is in the administrator group and user group. Does it really need to be in the administrator group?

For some reason Plex stopped working for me after I updated last night. I've uninstalled Ples rebooted and installed it back. But the app won't start.

issues to access Synology with Apple TV 4 Plex app while iMac is not running

I am trying to access my Synology NAS drive while my IMac is turned off. I can't access the synology drive from any Decive like iPhone iPad etc...but when the iMac is running everygthing is fine. Any help ? Suggestion ?
