Does anyone else have this problem?
Hi! I need PSM 0.9.16.6, but cant find almost 1 day for now where to download
DS-411j
DSM 6
Now i have 0.9.13. and PSM not starting with "unable to create server: basic_string::_S_create"
I seem to not be able to figure out how to go about adding a new second server (RS3617xs+) to my current server (DS216play) that are using one plex account. I can log in through my new server under NASIP:32400/web and see my plex account but can only add libraries from my primary server and not the new one that I've logged in through.
Any help is appreciated.
Since the last months, Plex is not downloading posters for many of the movies in my collection. I have tried with both "The Movie Database" and "Plex Movie" agents, but they fail to find about one third of the posters. Refreshing metadata, re-associating movies doesn't help.
I'm attaching the logs, captured just after refreshing the metadatas of a movie ("28 giorni dopo").
I download media onto my Synology NAS and organize into three folders.
1. Video/Movies - self explanatory
2. Video/TVShows - favorite tv shows/future shows to watch
3. Video/RecordedTV - daily downloaded, watched, deleted episodes
For some reason, Plex can no longer see the media in my /RecordedTV folder
The folder definitely has media in it
Has anyone ever seen this happen? Any tips?
The Plex Movie agent does not appear to connect to anything to pull result upon scanning a movie file. If i create a new library with a single movie (in this case Thor) using the Plex Movie agent, no metadata will even be pulled for the file. If i change the agent to The Movie Database agent, the metadata is found and pulled down.
I can see that if I go to manually 'match' the movie file Plex Movie will always return "no matches found" (almost immediately) whereas The Movie Database appears to search for a few moments then returns a list of possible results as expected.
I've been having this issue for a long time and up until now I have just utilized "The Movie Database" agent to pull metadata for my library, however i know that this agent is non-optimal and I am missing out on some cool features like Extras that I would like to be able to take advantage of.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hey Guys,
i'm running Plex on my DS. Both are up to date. I disactivated all the library-actualisation options, but my DSM runs permantly on 50% CPU, caused by "Plex Media Scanner". The NAS is running for about 2 weeks, so i don't get it, why this process is stil active.
I was looking into the protocoll and found at "Plex Media Scanner Chapter Thumbnails" this information.. is that the problem? How can i stop it?
Thanks for your help!

I cant access Plex over WAN, I have my Synology to force HTTPS, I have My valid certificate and I have it setup on my Synology, everything works except Plex, I notice that in the settings Server>>Networks It lets me add the path for the certificate but cant seem to do it right, can someone help me on this ? Can someone teach me how to properly do it ? I use Plex for all my media so its important the security when Plex is on my custom Synology where all my personal files are(What can I say Im a security freak). Thanks in advanced.
Hi everyone
I'm getting almost 100% CPU usage after this last release on my DS216 Play...
This is getting quite annoying getting performance issues while trying to watch a 576p tv show from my Apple TV4. My DSM is currently running PLEX and SICKBEARD packs, not running any transcoding and/or synchronisation !
Do you have any ideas or solutions ?
Or do I just need to wait for a fix from Synology ?
Bonjour,
Please help me !
Hi
I have a Synology 415+ on wich a Plex Media Server was running. Then I had a system failure and had to reinstall the DSM 6.1.
My data is still on the disk and so is the Plex folder, with all the data in it.
Question: How do I have to proceed, to reinstall the Plex server without have to reload all the metadata again?
Can I install Plex on the Synology, stop the Plex service and then just replace the new Plex folder with the old one? Would that work?
Thanx for your help
Hjalmar
After upgrading to DSM6 i am extra careful to check for errors.
in the /var/log/bash_err.log i see that the startup of plex seems to try to make a call to /sbin/ldconfig which is not available on the synology (at least mine after the upgrade). This happens on startup and from time to time.
Can someone confirm that this is normal and expected behaviour on synology? I've not noticed it before on any older DSM version - potentially because there was no bash_err.log :-) )
looking further into things the call seems to come from pythons ctypes/util.py which on the python version 2.7.4 included with plex does not check for existence of /sbin/ldconfig whereas the python 2.7.11 ctypes/util.py provided with synology tries to be smart. Maybe plex needs to upgrade the packaged python version to a later version.
anyway here's the log:

Hello,
DS 412+
PLex V 1.4.2.3400
DSM 6.1
Plex worked for years without any issues.
Since about two month, even with DSM 6.0 and previous Plex versions, synology do not put discs in sleep mode any more.
I tried to stop Plex -> the discs went in sleep mode as expected. However when Plex is running -> no way.
Is there someone around having same issue or even a sloution to fix that ?
I have always been a Synology fanboy but a couple years ago I decided to try out QNAP which turned out to be a mistake. Anyway, I am now running a Synology RS3617RPxs and am trying to convert my Plex library back to Synology. I've followed the same procedure I used when converting to Qnap but it doesn't seem to work, when I fire up Plex it just acts like a brand new install and loads the startup Wizard. I'm mostly just concerned with retaining my viewing status (whats been watched and not watched etc etc).
Details
QNAP - TVS-EC1080
Plex Version 1.5.3.3580
Synology - RS3617RPxs
Plex Version 1.5.3.3580
I stopped the Plex application on the Synology and copied the entire Plex folder from the Qnap and pasted it into the Plex folder on the Synology, I went in and made sure the Plex user had Permissions set to Full Control and CHOWN'd everything to be owned by plex. When I start the Plex app and launch the Plex Web console, it asks me for my PIN (as I have multiple users setup on my QNAP library) but then it runs the startup wizard and presents me with an empty library.
I'll keep digging to see if there is an official procedure for converting, if anyone can point me at one or let me know where I am going wrong, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Richard.
Hi,
I am looking to buy a small 2 bay Synology NAS (216SE or 216SJ or similar). Only issue i have seen is that these devices dont transcode the content so it will not stream 720P +
But my question is, if you are using the Plex app on the LG TV - is the NAS or the TV doing the transcoding?
Also is there a particular file format that doesnt require either device to transcode so you can just stream the content?
Most of the content i use on Plex is not even 720P (only some movies). If i am not trying to stream 720P - is the Synology transcoding issue even an issue anymore?
Thanks!
Hello all
I was wondering does anyone have a 916+ i was wondering if this device can handle remotly I got 3 people in my familiy. If It can handle with streaming. Atm i got ds414 but it slugging with streaming. Can a nasty handle it or do I really need to build a computer. Cause honestly I don't have much space in my place.
Hi All,
I have recently started to have a problem with my Plex where it cannot find the Plex server on my Synology DS412+. I have had this problem for about a week or so and today thought I would try to solve it. I have upgraded synology DSM to the latest and also done the same for Plex. Neither are making any difference.
Can anyone help?
