Plex version 0.9.16.3.1840-cece46d and public release of DSM 6.0 on DS214Play

can anyone confirm that Plex version 0.9.16.3.1840-cece46d, the latest release with work with the public release of DSM 6.0? It won't install the update with Plex running but I have read that if you stop Plex, install the DSM update then restart Plex all will work fine.
Any advice?

Is there a limit on the number of files in a folder on Plex?
I have Plex running on my Synology NAS and view them on Fetch TV as a DNLA device. The TV Shows play and present OK. But when I go to the movies (over 750), they do not show up. Yet if I look on my Plex App on iPad or my Samsung phone they are there. Has anyone come across this before?

Problem with update and sign in to remote access
Hello everyone;
Many problems here :)
1. i Try to update my 0.9.7.429 version to the last but everytime say '' the folowing adress is in use''
2. i try to update step by step, all update working until my installed version but not after.
3. until yesterday i got no problem to my remote access but isn't possible to connect with my user and pw more (say internal problem) i have change pw but stay the same.
My synology is an DS1812+ working with DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5

Wokring package for DS216play DSM6
Hi.
You guys in the forum created a working installation package for DS216play before that you uploaded here in the forum. This version doesn't work anymore.
Could maybe someone do the same with a newer version of Plex that could work running on DSM6?

Looking for fix to SONOS limit on size of music library
I use a Synology NAS to store 2.4 TB of FLAC encoded music files. I use SONOS for playback however I now exceed the track limit of 65,000 tracks. Can PLEX be a workaround ? In conversations with SONOS tech support they are working on adding PLEX as streaming source. If I can stream from my NAS rather than a PLEX cloud service this may be the work-around I need

ARMv5 - The good and the bad
There were some significant announcements this week. The good is that DSM6 is still available, the bad is that Plex Inc. just announced that Plex Media Server will be discontinued for this platform.
I've bought a ds411slim 2.5 years ago. This unit was discontinued after the ds414slim announcement on May 27, 2014, less than 2 years ago. This is not so old... Plex took more than 2 years to announce PMS support for ARMv7. Several ARMv7 users felt deceived during almost 2 years for not having a PMS platform. Now ARMv5 users are facing an even worse scenario.
The problem with PMS is that a significant part of the code is loaded during installation. It's useless to have a 0.9.16.x installation file if installation cannot be completed because the downloaded files will not be compatible. One thing is to be stuck with an old PMS, which I'm forced to accept (although not satisfied), another complete thing is to plan to abbandon Plex as my media server because it may no longer work in the future.
Is this what Plex Inc. wants ? Or will we have a guarantee that old versions will continue to work ?

/sbin/ldconfig not available on Synology causing plex startup to log errors
After upgrading to DSM6 i am extra careful to check for errors.
in the /var/log/bash_err.log i see that the startup of plex seems to try to make a call to /sbin/ldconfig which is not available on the synology (at least mine after the upgrade). This happens on startup and from time to time.
Can someone confirm that this is normal and expected behaviour on synology? I've not noticed it before on any older DSM version - potentially because there was no bash_err.log :-) )
looking further into things the call seems to come from pythons ctypes/util.py which on the python version 2.7.4 included with plex does not check for existence of /sbin/ldconfig whereas the python 2.7.11 ctypes/util.py provided with synology tries to be smart. Maybe plex needs to upgrade the packaged python version to a later version.

99% CPU Usage after 6.0 DSM / Plex Update
Hi -
Everything was fine on 6.0 beta 1 and 2.
Ever since 6.0 DSM RTM..... and having to update to the new Plex to make that work, every 1080p video that I stream is 99% CPU usage and won't buffer properly.
Literally nothing else on my network has changed. Cisco switch. DS 1815+, cat 6 between everything, apple tv4... and it was flawless before.
Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? Or just wait for a plex update maybe?

now plex isn't working because i had to update. i downloaded last version 0.9.16.3.1840 but i can't update and plex still didn't work.

Unable to install Plex media server
I need some help..
About 1 month ago i bought a ds216play. I use the NAS for Plex as this is easier.
But suddenly Monday i was no longer able to log on to the plex server to update the library.
So i decided to try a reinstall of Plex. Uninstall went fine, so i did a factory reset of the NAS to get a clean start.
Only now Plex is no longer the package center and im not able to reinstall the file i downloaded.
I tried all 3 trust levels but get the same error message on all 3.
"this package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation"
I have dsm 6.0-7321 on NAS
i have downloaded the latest file (armv7) from the Plex website.
Is the anyone who can explain how i can fix this???
Keep it simple as im no computer genius. :)

Cannot start Plex after DSM 6.0 Update
Hi,
I was recently notified of the DSM 6.0 update and went to install. It would not complete as it stated Plex was running. Following the advice on this forum, I stopped the Plex package which allowed the DSM update to proceed. After upgrade I updated all the components in the package manager however I could not start the Plex package.
This is the error message that I get in the log:
I checked the permissions and gave the Plex user full access to everything and still no joy. How do I start Plex now?

Plex vs Synology VS
Hi,
I updated to the latest dsm software on my 415+ and got the latest plex running.
I've noticed that some of my one piece anime mkv's are not able to play on the plex app through my samsung smart tv, I tried direct stream and transcoding but the file just stutters. Tried playing with the buffer settings but the end result is the same.
When i do the same with synology video station, the file plays just fine on my samsung smart tv.
What is the difference? Why does plex not transcode this file properly?
I love plex but i now have to watch one piece through the synology video station.... :(

Cant play movies/stuttering
I have a DS2413+ (DSW 5.2-5644 update 5) w/ 4gm ram. It is running 0.9.16.3 on my server / 2.5.9 on web client. Ever since the last 2 updates nothing can play any movies. I get either choppy video or a message saying "server cant play video". I have tried on a windows 7 laptop, Visio TV (Plex V1.0.1) & Amazon Fire TV (Plex 4.23.3.552). I have tried every setting imaginable and nothing will work anymore! I never had problems!! The one thing I did do is sideload an older version of Plex onto the AFTV (Plex 3.3.2.137) and everything plays flawlessly!! It also has direct play and direct stream checked and it still works!! So what gives? Why will an old version run on my AFTV but nothing else? The Vizio used to work great too but now its acting up.
Someone please help! This is truly annoying!!

Plex no longer externaly reachable under DSM 6.0
After installing DSM 6.0 on my Disk Station i see that Plex is no longer included in the Diskstation Paket center...after install Plex manuallyon my Diskstation my Plex Server is only reachable local and no longer via remote Access over the Internet....i made no changes in my Router Settings or the Port forwarding from 20000 to 32400 or Firewall and the Diskstation Firewall is disabled and if i start plex from my DSM Desktop an go to Server Settings i can se the green sign that my Server is reachable externaly with this Settings but i can't connect my externaly over the Internet......please if any one in this Forum can help my with this Problem it will be great.....because i spend a lot of time to bring my round 2000 CD's on my Storage and i was so happy that i also get remote Access to my Plex media Server after so many try's and now I'am destroyed on the ground because I have no idea what to do to reach my Server again......
