Had Plex running successfully on my Synology NAS but about a week ago the metadata stopped updating on new additions. The strange thing is the title of the addition will come through, like a movie name, but none of the details will come through.
I did a manual update of Plex, I completely reinstalled from scratch, I tried washing my media library a few times, nothing seems to be working.
What am I missing? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
So, been working great so far except movies that have DTS audio. They will play for a couple minutes and then they will stop to buffer and never recover. What is weird is that the unit never goes above 30% CPU the entire time so it's not like it cannot keep up.
Anyone else having this issue?
I have just bought the DS216play and transferred all data onto new WD Red HDD's. The data includes a large number of mp4 video files, varying between SD, 480,720 and 1080p predominantly AAC. When trying to stream/play video files the large majority (of lower resolution files) do not play. Instead I get the message "The server is not powerful enough to convert video'.
Within Plex settings the Player for Local Quality is set to original. My old WD MyCloud continues to play all of the mp4 files without any problem. Is this an issue with the DS216play or with Plex software for this NAS? Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated.

I have an issue with South Park TV Shows.
Indeed, only nine seasons on seventeen are listed in Plex Media Server 1.2.7.2987 web interface and TV on my Synology NAS DS 214+ 6.0.2-8451 Update 4 DSM version.
I deleted all episodes then pasted them again, also tried folder season by folder season but doesn't fix this problem.
It used to work with previous version of Plex.
Any idea ?

When I log in using my Plex account, I see a report found no server.

After i install the lastest version Plex Server for synology, i discover than Plex Server open a lot of connexion on my Domotic Server ( 400 connexions on port 50157). And the domotic server (veralite) reboots every hour. Where can i found an older version of plex server for synology ? Thanks
Hi when I install through Package Center I don't believe I have the latest version. Currently it is 09.16.3.1840.
When I launch the web version, it tells me there is a newer version but when I try to install the file it downloads (PlexMediaServer-1.0.0.2261-a17e99e-arm7.spk) it hangs.
When I try to install the version through Plex website (PlexMediaServer-1.3.3.3148-b38628e-arm7.spk) it also just hangs.
Help anyone?!?

We have an intermittant fault with media stopping and starting when watching using the Synology NAS. The NAS is wired and our internal speeds are very good. The files are mostly MKV around 3GB per episode of which I usually have to optimize them to work.

This is being steamed to the Plex app on a 1 year old LG TV Smart TV. I have checked if anything is running when this happens and very little is running and the CPU is barely hitting 17% and RAM is just say over halfway sometimes.

I have plex installed on my ds 214 play, and I will from 1-2-2017 no longer have a static ip-adress, is it needed to access the plex on the synology.
How can I delete the original movie version after optimization? Plex delete all versions if I delete the original version..
The day the first 1.4 Beta was released, I installed it on my Synology DS415+. It runs perfectly fine without issue. Except Xbox's both the xbox One and xbox 360 are now unable to stream from my server. How do I go about downgrading from 1.4 to the current build of 1.3 without losing any data. or should i just wait for the build numbers to catch up and not worry about it?
Recently purchased a DS216+II and am having several issues getting everything to work properly.
Hoping someone who's managed to get PMS on a Synology NAS working successfully with both local and remote access can give me some pointers on what to try, to fix what appear to be connectivity issues. Long time Plex user, but first NAS I've ever owned, and so it's possible I'm instead missing something obvious to you, or borked something during setup of the NAS or router?
It's running DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9, and I manually installed the PMS package (version 1.3.3.3148-b38628e).
NAS is plugged directly into the router (Netgear R6220).
Local devices (Macs and iOS) are connected to the router via WiFi. Manually forwarded essential ports on the router for the NAS, including 32400 for PMS, which is also manually specified in PMS settings. NAS has a static IP. CanYouSeeMe.org shows 32400 port is open.
All movies and tv shows are named using Filebot, folder structure should be fine, separate libraries are in the "video" shared folder and hierarchy and naming convention should be "Plex-friendly" eg. TV Documentaries/Planet Earth/Season 1/Planet Earth - S01E01 - From Pole to Pole.m4v for TV content, and while movies aren't in separate folders, they are named correctly, eg. Movies/10 Cloverfield Lane (2016).m4v
Library shows in web UI, and most of the files are matched. There are issues with the metadata not always downloading though, particularly posters and fanart for TV is only loading for some shows (many of the ones matched have correct description etc. but no images). Some TV shows not matching at all. Refreshing doesn't fix it. Did the Plex dance twice, didn't fix it. Manually choosing a poster or fanart should work, at least for the ones it's matching but where images are missing, but it just remains blank and downs't actually download.
Movies are faring better, with (most) movies so far matching. Cannot manually change poster or fanart though, as above it just removes the poster and it remains blank so I'm stuck with whatever the agent pulls on the initial match (some are the wrong language though, and it bugs me that I can no longer manually fix errors TVDB or TMDB throw up).
The local connection (to various Macs and iOS devices) from the NAS seems flaky. Was able to play some movies using OpenPHT on the Mac mini (over WiFi), and it recognises the library and will sometimes play a movie/file, other times it appears to have lost the connection and I get an error that the path wasn't found (or similar, forget the wording). On iOS, it shows as "direct connection unavailable" for the NAS PMS server, and connection frequently drops altogether.
Remote access seems to work in that I can see my libraries, though am unable to play a movie. Tried this on both 4G and remote WiFi networks from Plex app on iPhone, and also got my Dad to try it from his Samsung TV, remote WiFi. In all cases, the libraries show, so there's some sort of connection, but cannot play files.
Seems there are issues so far both with local and remote access, so any help from someone more experienced with running PMS on a Synology NAS would be great.
Let me know what I can do to test the setup, beyond what I've done already?
Goal ultimately is to have the PMS serving content from the NAS both locally (1, max 2 streams at any given time) and ideally to family remotely as well (1-2 streams max). From what I can tell, this should be entirely possible, but can't figure out what I'm missing (and Synology haven't been too helpful in troubleshooting this).

I could never start plex server on my Synology DS214.
Booting the Plex server opens a new browser tab, but the page does not load.
I uninstalled everything several times, erasing even the libraries folder etc,
I open the firewall on all the ports and I disabled jumbo frames.
I do not know what to do!
When syncing from Nas to iPad, the transcode compression settings are being completely ignored. It takes ages but is simply transcoding to the original quality.
I've tried both 0.9.16.3.1840 and 1.3.3.3148 with the latest iPad app version and it's still the same

I see many other posts as well as other google results saying that Plex won't run on a ds1815+.
After some investigation, I've noticed that the package included in the synology package center is 32 bit, but the 1815+ is a 64bit OS.

I am running the plex media server on my DS 412+.
Is there a simple way to reset all settings to default? I could uninstall plex and delete the plex directory, but maybe there is another way to start all over without losing the metadata.

i´ve got the problem here, that the list of available channels is actually not a list but empty. Already changed region Settings to various Countrys including mine but no success at the end.
Has anyone got an idea what the reason could be? Plex is running on a DS716+II NAS, external availability ok, Synology and plex are up to date.

I cant access Plex over WAN, I have my Synology to force HTTPS, I have My valid certificate and I have it setup on my Synology, everything works except Plex, I notice that in the settings Server>>Networks It lets me add the path for the certificate but cant seem to do it right, can someone help me on this ? Can someone teach me how to properly do it ? I use Plex for all my media so its important the security when Plex is on my custom Synology where all my personal files are(What can I say Im a security freak). Thanks in advanced.

When i run PLEX with myservername:32400, i can't find any server.
I have try and try many things, but i dont understand why it dosent work.
