Hi, since i've upgraded Plex to 1.3.3.3148-b38628e i cannot play videos that require transcoding anymore. On the web client it just loads forever, and on my PS4 i get an error message: "error: 'undefined' code: '-2140536828'". Videos that do not require transcoding still work fine. My Synology is a DS415+. Thanks

PMS on DS415+ transcoding when it shouldn't
Hi,
I recently added some MKV files from bluray disks to my plex library. I created these files using MakeMKV.
The problem is that I get a lot of pausing and/or timeout errors when playing in Plex players on Sony, Samsung TVs and Apple TV 4. I monitored the CPU and memory usage on the NAS while trying to play these movies and noticed that the CPU is at 98% and memory at 1.78.
It seems that PMS is transcoding when it shouldn't since both, the source media and the dispay client are 1080p. Direct Play and Direct stream are enabled in the players.
What am I doing wrong?

I have two Synology Servers. I want to move Plex and all my media from Syn1 to Syn2.
I have reviewed about a million pages but none seem to cover this. I would like to keep everything the same but move it all to the faster and bigger server. Any help would be great. All the sites show moving on computer but not between NAS drives.

No playback on Android TV
I played around with Plex a little the last couple of weeks and it is really giving me a hard time. I only fiddle around with media files which can either be played via Direct Stream or Direct Play (MPEG-2 TS with 1080i H.264 video and AC3 audio), so without any transcoding necessary on my weak NAS. Remuxing should be fine on a dual core ARM Cortex A9 running at 1GHz, no?
I tried playback with 3 clients:
(1) Microsoft Edge running on a Win10 notebook
(2) via Google Cast on Sony Android TV (iniated from my iPhone 7)
(3) Plex on Sony Android TV
You will find those 3 attempts in the attached logs (last 3 in exactly the above order).
Results:
(1) working
(2) video not starting, loading forever (only Google Cast page is loaded on the Sony TV)
(3) video not starting, loading forever
Even though I re-installed the server on the NAS, I still see old logs. So I assume that the server has also not been reset to factory settings? How can I achieve that?

I got no issue viewing my server at home but can't access from outside. I have attached 2 screen shots for the reference. I even tried manual port forwarding via router, but didn't help. Please help!

"Server settings are unavailable." after reinstall
Hello,
I am having an issue to re-setup my Plex config/install on Synology DS713+ (DSM version and PMS version 1.3.4.3285-b46e0ea).
Plex notified me there was a newer version for PMS which I manually installed on Synology (as usual), but then, Plex went haywire: error messages, no sync, infinite loading... Well, I decided to uninstall/reinstall Plex. I also removed the entire folder /volume/Plex (hence expecting a full re-setup).
However, after a reinstall (and subsequent new reinstall/reboots), I keep getting this error message while access server settings (through local IP or through plex.tv): "Server settings are unavailable."
Also, when I want to add a new Library (Movie for instance), I get the following error and cannot do anything: "Your changes could not be saved."
Here the content of my Plug-ins folder (located here /volume1/Plex/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Plug-ins): empty.
I also, once in the several attempts, reached the setup page, where I got the following message: "A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex."
I am also attaching the logs.
Would there be anybody to help me?
PS: would being a Plex Pass subscriber provide me a premium support? If yes, how do I reach Plex Support?

Your Plex Media Server does not meet the minimum requirements to run Alexa.
Okay, so I've added the Alexa Skill, and Authorised it, and it's all connected.
BUT Alexa, tells me my server does not meet the minimum required and it needs upgraded.
my version of Plex is 0.9.15 which I believe is the minimum required.
Remote Access is also enabled, and all in the green
Does Alexa Skill require Plex Pass ?

How to make sure sync works with Nvidia Shield Tv - solution
I have all my tv and movies on a synology 416 Nas. Now while this is great and can run its own plex server, the cpu just isn't powerful enough for offline transcoding, which I do for my ipad mini 2.
For days I've been struggling with sync and optimization on the Nvidia shield tv. Compression settings seemed to be ignored, so i'd get back the same size file as the original. This seems to be connected to the fact that android allows read only mode for server connections. I was close to giving up until i stumbled on the solution.
You need to make sure you have a plex folder on the local hdd and include it in the list of library folders from the server...for example Movies. Even if you have nothing in it.
Now you can optimize to the local hdd, but also if you use that local movie path as your temp transcode directory, syncing works perfectly and pretty quickly too.

no subtitles being used
Since a few weeks, Plex Server ( 0.9.16.6) on my NAS (DS413) doesn't recognize the subtitles I add to media. I haven't changed anything on the naming convention. It still is identical_name_of_the_media with as extra .eng (for the language).
Any ideas on how to solve this?

Can't use plex on my Synology NAS DS214+
Hi,
It is the first time I try to install a plex media server, so I am completely new with it.
I have a Synology DS214+ and I installed the ARMV7 plex.
My NAS is running DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9.
The problem I encounter is when I click on the URL link I get and error message :
I tried to reinstall plex several times but it still don't work.
If you know any solution to my problem I would be pleased to know it.

DS1513 to DS2415+....worth it?
All, I currently have a DS1513 set for 14TB of storage and I'm approaching the 9TB use mark. I've ripped everything and burned in subtitles so that it hardly ever needs to transcode. I'd love, though, to be able to not worry about it any longer. Has anyone made the transfer from DS1513 (or something similar) to DS2415+? Was it worth it? What kind of performance bumps did you see from a transcode perpsective?

PMS Not finding metadata
I have an issue with PMS not finding any metadata for any new movies i add. It's been working for the last few months but only started not working approx. 11 days ago. I tried Updating and refreshing the library with no success.

metadata no longer updating
Hello,
Had Plex running successfully on my Synology NAS but about a week ago the metadata stopped updating on new additions. The strange thing is the title of the addition will come through, like a movie name, but none of the details will come through.
I did a manual update of Plex, I completely reinstalled from scratch, I tried washing my media library a few times, nothing seems to be working.
What am I missing? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Server not performing scheduled backups
I'm in the process of setting up a backup for everything I want on my NAS and I've ended up deciding that all I want from plex is the Preferences.xml file and the scheduled database backups. However when I checked I realised that these scheduled backup haven't performed for months.
As per this thread https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/255179/backup-just-server-setting-and-watched-status#latest I don't believe the database is corrupt
Any help appreciated.
The only other strange behaviour I have noticed is that in the last few days plex web has been failing to load the dashboard on both pcs I have. However this is far more recent than the backups appear to have stopped.

How to get rid of "unavailable"
Hi,
I recently installed PLEX on my NAS & while library was indexing I noticed some of my poster icons has "2" on the top right. When I click the info, it shows I have 2 versions in 2 locations, 1 in avi & the other in mp4. So I deleted the format I did not want (in this case the avi).
So now I still have the "2" showing but I also have an "unavailable". Info still shows both locations.
How do I remove the 2nd unwanted listing from Info? Or from the index?

Trailers and extras not playing.
I can't get trailers and extras to play for the life of me. Not in the web player nor in the apple tv4. I have checked all settings. PMS version 1.2.2 running on a sinology ds 716II+. I checked settings and tried re-starting the PMS as well as disabling Direct Play. Please help!

PMS not reachable outside the local network with new ISP Telekom Hybrid
Hi,
i have the following problem and need help. I searched the net and couldn't locate a proper answer or help.
As i now got the new internet connection type from telecom germany called MagentaZuhause Hybrid i am not able to handle plex correctly as it seems to be an issue or bug inside the plex media server with the way the data is handled from my isp. All other apps and programs are able to handle the traffic correctly even the NAT thing.
It seems that the nat rule will not work correctly with PMS as the speedport hybrid (router) does not open the specified port until the app is creating a local service on that port.
I tried to delete "Preferences.xml" and the pid file to reset the configuration. As the log throws out cert errors i did delete the content of the cache folder.
I am not sure but it could be that the android app is the only thing that won't correctly connect from outside the local LAN. I also really miss a way to enter a DynDNS address from inside the android app to connect directly without any relay.
The remote tab of the server settings is sometimes showing that local connections are fine and sometimes not. The external connections from the remote tab of the server settings always shows that it is not reachable.
Hopefully there is a developer outside reading this as the new hybrid internet service is growing up in germany and it has a large upload rate for a cheap price (up to 40Mbit/s). If you read this please respond to it, it really need to be fixed i will attach some log files that hopefully can help, too.
Explanation of the hybrid internet structure: The first and only router on the market for this type of internet connection is creating a bonding tunnel from two internet connections: one internet connection is a dsl line and the other is a mobil LTE line which will be forced together from the ISP servers. My guess is that the plex media server is not yet able to handle the data correctly on that connection.
Please developers read this and enlight me/us.

Not recognising some single Episodes of a Tv-Show despite identical Naming etc.
Hello everyone i would appreciate some Tips on what i could have missed here
The Setup i use (Probably not relevant):
I use a DS213+ with 2 3Tb Hard Drives in Raid 1(mostly for Backup purposes)
Recently i installed Plex, Transmission, Python (2.7), Git and SickBeard Custom (Sick Rage) to automate and simplify keeping Track and Downloading Tv-Shows
So if i discover a new Show i add it in SickBeard and it finds the Downloads Transmission then starts them at night when the bandwith is not needed and when it's finished SickBeard unpacks and renames them and saves the Files in the relevant Folder for Plex.
This usually works fine and without any human intervention. Sometimes not all Episodes can be found from the same source but different sources usually work fine as long as the filetype (mkv) and the naming is the same.
The Problem:
In a Season of a Show (The Flash 2014) Plex doesnt find some Episodes from the same folder, even though they are the same File Type (mkv) and follow the Plex naming Convention (Which is automated so no typing errors or any kind of human error).
For example episodes 2, 5 and 12 out of 14 can't be recognised even though there are episodes from the same source that work just fine.
I tried renaming the Files and even the Folders different ways but those 4 episodes are missing every time. I tried deleting the folder from Plex and updating the Media in Plex then readding only some episodes or only the episodes that wont be recognised but Plex will simply not find those 4 Files.
The missing Episodes play just fine on my Pc so the files aren't corrupt and i also checked Plex Permissions (Plex can read and write all involved Folders)
I tried stopping and restarting Plex and running just Plex without any other Services running on the NAS but nothing changes
I haven't had that Problem with any other Show yet but different Shows from the same release Groups work just fine.
Is there anything i have missed or could try to get Plex to find those files? I tried the forum search and obviously google but didnt find anything else to try.
