Hi,
For some strange reason movies are transcoded on my NAS since the latest update (PMS 1.5.2).
Strange thing is that the same movie worked fine before the update.
I attached the log, so please please can someone help my out
DS916+ NAS running DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9. Plex server 1.5.3
Ran a scan to add in some media files and suddenly nothing was accessible. Signing out and back in, I've lost connectivity to the media server. I can still read the files directly through the drives, but Plex can't discover the server either locally or remotely.
I've followed the "Why can't the Plex app find or connect..." troubleshooting guide, but there's no joy there.
ETA: Settings>Server returns that "Server settings are unavailable" and trying to connect to the server directly is a no-go.
Can anyone suggest a next step?
Thanks.
Hi, I have a Synology DS415+ that I cannot update because it states that Plex is not compatible with the update and will be disabled. I talked with Synology and they say Plex has not sent them the info needed to correct this problem. Plex has had two updates since and the problem das not been corrected. My question is when will this problem between Plex and Synology be resolved? I wanted to ask Plex about the problem but they don't answer support issues and I don't know how people in the forums could have the answer but I am willing to try.
Thanks
Tom
ps, I have asked three other questions in the forums and have never received a response maybe this will be the lucky one
Hi, I am running Plex on a Synology NAS and everything has been great for a long time. However just recently one library section is displaying old deleted files and wont let me delete them or empty the trash. I tried deleting the library section and it fails, tried the database recovery steps detailed in the support section to no avail. Just a bit stuck can anyone advise?
Previous version was PMS v1.5.3.3580-4b377d295
New version installed PMS v1.5.4.3596-0d2d8c2be
When running PMS, log shows "no such file or directory" referring to the old Plug-ins-4b377d295 folder which has now been renamed to Plug-ins-0d2d8c2be after the upgrade.
Renaming the folder back to "Plug-ins-4b377d295" seems to get rid of the errors.
Although I'm wondering, is this the right way or am I missing a step somewhere?
I have been experiencing timeouts when trying to access my media on PMS.
It kept giving me that unable to load dashboard error even after optimizing the database. Although I can access both Movies and Series library section from the left panel. Now, it gave me "error encountered while retrieving hubs" from using Plex Client on Windows, Android and iOS.
I checked the log, it seems Plex is experiencing SLOW QUERY issue. Optimizing the database doesn't seems to help.
I went ahead and start building my libraries from scratch again, optimizing my database each time after library was added.
Still, when trying to access my media, often I was greeted with that unable to load dashboard or disconnected from server.
My PMS is on Synology DS1512+. The server load is fine and all my disk are healthy.

Library size: 74 Movies (462GB), 93 TV Series (1.25TB)
Please find the log attached.
Hope someone can help me get Plex running smooth again.
Greetings All,
as for now, sounds like I should not upgrade DSM to the major new version 6.1, too severe changes in DSM to be a guinea pig and avoiding hassle. "Never touch a running system" so to speak
Also in the DSM 6.1 readme:
"Due to infrastructure update, packages will need re-initialization after upgrading to DSM 6.1. The process will occupy a higher CPU usage and can take up to an hour depending on the number of packages installed."
What does this mean for a big Plex library?
Anyone wants to share their thoughts or even experience with DSM 6.1 using Plex, PlexPy & Comm. pythton 2.7 (needed by PlexPy). Any Feedbacks well appreciated!
Thanks a bunch,
Cyberlex
Hello,
Had Plex running successfully on my Synology NAS but about a week ago the metadata stopped updating on new additions. The strange thing is the title of the addition will come through, like a movie name, but none of the details will come through.
I did a manual update of Plex, I completely reinstalled from scratch, I tried washing my media library a few times, nothing seems to be working.
What am I missing? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Sorry to be including a screenshot, can't seem to be able to copy/paste the logs from the Log screen displayed.
Any guidance on how to proceed/fix appreciated. Thanks!
I had two power blips yesterday that cause my Synology to shutdown both times. I have a Plex Server on the Synology and an old Intel Box; I primarily use the Intel server due to it's superior transcoding when watching via Roku.
All videos in the Intel Plex server now show up as "Unavailable", and will not play ("There's a problem playing this item"). After trolling these forums, I determine that I have a permissions issue, and change the permissions to the "video" folder to r/w for all users.
I think I made things worse - when I look for the folder "video" using File Station on the Synology, it's not there! However, it DOES show up on "Shared Folder" in Control Panel.
And the strange thing is, if I use the Plex Server on the Synology, I have no issues - all files are there (albiet it's slow to transcode if it needs transcoding) so I know I haven't lost any data. Several shows downloaded via Sonarr last night, and show up on the Synology Plex server as well so I know the folder is there somewhere..
I'm pretty sure it's a noob permissions thing. Can anyone help?
Hi, I am having some issues with this new version. PMS is not starting on my DS1515+. If I uninstall this version and install the previous one, 1.5.3.3580, it works at expected.
When I try to run it this is the error showed.

I have installed the the PLEX media package on my Synology 916+ NAS (version 1.5.3.3580-4b377d295) but whn I log into the web control panel and in my settings > server I am notified there is a manual update (version 1.5.4.3596-0d2d8c2be). How can I get this installed on the NAS? When downloading the package and then using the manual install form the Synology DS package installer it says it is in an invalid format. What can I do? Advice?
I have some recorded tv streams on my Synology DS414 which I'd like to play on my Apple TV 4. VLC tvOS app can play these .ts files but Plex tvOS app is unable to. I know the DS414 is not suitable for transcoding. Not powerful enough.
How do you guys play these files?
I was in process to update DSM 6.1-15047 from DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9 and after I hit update there is an error message that Plex is not compatible with the system update and will be disabled after the update. Has anyone else gone through the update? Are you able to manually restart Plex? Was it successful?
I am a bit nervous to apply this update after issues in November with the beta version.
I am on Plex version 1.4.2.3400-ab906953b
I have updated to the latest server and continually get the To get started streaming your media everywhere, download and install Plex Media Server on the computer or device where you keep your media."" message. I have tried repairing, and updating, also uninstalling and reinstalling, however the latest version is just not seeing the server once installed. This is on windows 10 as of today
Also how do i export log from PMS in Synology?
The Plex Movie agent does not appear to connect to anything to pull result upon scanning a movie file. If i create a new library with a single movie (in this case Thor) using the Plex Movie agent, no metadata will even be pulled for the file. If i change the agent to The Movie Database agent, the metadata is found and pulled down.
I can see that if I go to manually 'match' the movie file Plex Movie will always return "no matches found" (almost immediately) whereas The Movie Database appears to search for a few moments then returns a list of possible results as expected.
I've been having this issue for a long time and up until now I have just utilized "The Movie Database" agent to pull metadata for my library, however i know that this agent is non-optimal and I am missing out on some cool features like Extras that I would like to be able to take advantage of.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
